Coming to Canada to seek asylum.

Hello, im from the dictatorship of Australia and the situation here is bad, very bad. Im looking hopefully sooner rather than later to flee this hellhole and come to Canada as its a free country with human rights.

I and quite alot of Australians are looking to flee and likely will when the NZ travel bubble opens. What im wanting to know is if i get a flight from NZ to Canada how does the asylum thing work, will they accept Australians or is it just people from war torn countries.?

Any help would be appreciated, i have virtually no family here and the ones i have are already overseas except my dad who is happy to stay here, my only 2 friends i had committed suicide recently to to the discusting abuse the Aus government has done to everyone here over a flu virus.

Highly unlikely they would accept a refugee claim from an Australian, but you never know. Why don’t you just apply to immigrate?

Australia is a safe country and does not recognize refugees! And why did you not apply for asylum in Australia? Are you an Australian citizen or permanent resident?

You can submit your refugee claim but expect to undergo thoroughly examinations and you are hearing will be expedited if you are AU citizen. DCO policy was abondoned in 2019 by Government of Canada removing all Designated Countries. I guess fleeing flu virus will be your main reason, right?

I'm very sorry for your situation. What's happening there is really terrible and frightening.

Unfortunately there is no path for you to apply for refugee status to Canada directly.

At this time, the only way for you and your family to potentially be selected for immigration to Canada is to leave Afghanistan and seek shelter in a neighbouring country. Once you are there, you would need to be recognized as refugees by UNHCR and then UNHCR would determine where you are resettled. This may or may not be Canada. I know it's difficult to leave the country right now so this may not be an option for you.

Canada is offering refugee status to some Afghani nationals who worked with Canadian armed forces in roles such as translators. Unfortunately it doesn't sound like you would qualify for this program and I'm not even sure if Canada is going to be able to evacuate these individuals in the end due to challenges with airport travel.

UNHCR only offers resettlement to less than 1% of refugees who register with them. Just want you to have realistic expectations of that option.

Canada looks to be very far from Nigeria to seek protection against domestic Abuse. I would advice to research neighbouring countries. In a meantime, Canada settle refugees who arent residing in their country through UNHCR. In Canada asylum seeking is another option

Domestic violence does not guarantee asylum in Canada. If you attempt to seek asylum in Canada you would need to prove that you sought safety in other areas of the country.

Australia to Canada? highly unlikely, what do you mean by " over a flue virus"?
