Hi, I am an American and i have been visiting Canada since November of 2014, i am set to leave in the beginning of May of 2015. I have heard different things of You cannot come back for another 6 months, and i have also heard that I can come back a lot sooner as long as I abide by the laws (Leave on time). I have tried to find a straight answer to this, but i feel like I'm running in circles. Can someone please give me the answer to this, I don't want to have to wait 6 months before even thinking of coming back.

There is no rule that says you have to remain outside of Canada for six months before returning. Having said that, it's up to the immigration officer whether you are allowed back into Canada when you return and for how long. If you have already spent six months in Canada and plan to return for another long visit relatively soon, it would be wise to carry proof of ties to the US (e.g. employment, property ownership/rental, utilities, etc.) to demonstrate that you really are a visitor and are not trying to live in Canada without authorization.

Oh thank you so much. I have been getting frustrated with not being able to find a straight answer. Thanks again! :D
There is no straight answer, each case is different.

If the officer feels you are bending the visiting rules to live in Canada then they can perfectly deny entry.

Do as Scylla suggested. I also recomend to not be in Canada more than 6 months in the last 12 months. I have seen people coming and going two months out, 6 months in, 1 month out, 6 months in.... that's an abusive use of the law and they get a very hard time with immigration.
