Hello, I am a Canadian citizen that is engaged to a Colombian. We’ve been together for over 4 years, and last year he was finally granted his temporary visa to come meet/visit my family in Canada. Over these past years, I’ve been spending half the year in Canada, and the other half in Colombia. We want to get married, but want to wait ti start the marital sponsorship process (he has a 12hr so we want to make sure everything is in order to being him as well).
My question is: Will my Colombian partner be able to visit Canada with his multiple entry temporary visa is his marital status and is now married to a Canadian? Will his visa need to be reassessed?
Any insight is much appreciated! Thank you!

What does this mean?

Short form, yes. Long form, technically he can be denied entry at a port of entry in Canada if they think he's clearly not coming to visit. Not likely to happen unless he's previously had issues or overstayed or shows up with all of his worldly belongings, etc.

Hi! Thanks for your quick response! To clarify, he has his son full time, but currently doesn’t have legally full custody, so that’s something we need to sort out before applying for the marital sponsorship.

If his son were to get a TRV and visit with him, after we get married, and only with carry on luggage, is it likely that they will reject their entry?

I appreciate your input!

When you say finally got granted a TRV, was your partner refused before? I'm having difficulty with a very similar situation and wondering if you can provide some input. Thank you

Hello, yes my partners first application was rejected when I wrote the invitation letter myself inviting to come visit as my boyfriend to meet my family and attend my brothers wedding. In hindsight we should have went with a visa consultant from the start to avoid the disappointing rejection. If you have the time to do all the research and submit yourself, it’s great, but even then every case is slightly different so always best to consult in my opinion. The second time around I basically got a family member ( different last name) to write the invitation letter instead of me, and the TRV was finally granted. I don’t know if I can help, but I can do my best!

This helps thank you. When the other family member wrote the letter was it a General invitation or what was the basis? and were you mentioned in the letter or in the second application? Also How long did you wait to reapply?

My girlfriend has a very strong application in my opinion, and she only wants to visit. I spent alot of hours putting together the last application but I feel like it wasn't even looked at. In addition the atip notes were extremely vague and I believe could have been fought in court but that's extremely expensive.
