or is it only for them who are in Canada ?

I badly need your suggestion .

My NOC is 7241.

That is the million dollar questions lots of people have been searching for answer. I believe the certficate of qualification refer to the trade certification issued by different provincies in Canada.

Go to www.red-seal.ca and you wil get more details, but the difficult part is that it seems you have to be in Canada to right the releveant exams for your trade or NOC code. No one on this forum has been able to offer 100% answer as to if one can write this exam from outside of canada.

Yes certificate of qualification can only be obtained whilst you are in Canada and you need to pass an exam also.

Certificate of Qualification - Federal Skilled Trade Class

Interested to live and work in Canada via Federal Skilled Trade Class? The first requirement is you must have an offer of employment in Canada or a certificate of qualification from a province or territory to ensure that applicants are "job ready" upon arrival.

Arguably, it is easier to get a Certificate of Qualification than to get an offer of employment. And with a Certificate of Qualification, it would be easier to get an employment offer. Thus, this Federal Skilled Trade Class program is highly dependent on getting your skills and experience recognized in Canada.

Now, the question is this: How to get a Certificate of Qualification?

First, you need to decide which province you want to settle in. Once decided, then check your options on how to get your skills and experience certified.

To make it easy for you, just click the link below for each province's apprenticeship programs and details how to get Certificate of Qualifications:

Alberta - Apprenticeship and Industry Training
http://tradesecrets.alberta.ca/

British Columbia - Industry Training Authority

Manitoba -Entrepreneurship, Training and Trade

Nova Scotia - Apprenticeship Training Division

Nunavut - Training and Apprenticeship Opportunities

Ontario - Employment Ontario

Québec - Skills and Vocational Qualification

Yukon - Department of Education

By visting the website of instiutions with jurisdiction to your trade, you will have an idea how to process it.

If I am reading this correctly; the summary of the post above by cocknbull is located in the first statement;

YOU HAVE TO BE IN CANADA FIRST, to write the exams that let you get the red seal (Trade qualification) you so seek to apply for the FSTC

Another thought that is crossing my head although I don't know of anyone that has tried this, will be if you are from a country that does not require visa to vist Canada - US, UK etc or your visa status in such visa free country allows you to enter Canada without visa (maybe US H1B visa); you can try to check the link Cocknbull has supplied for the province of your choice and write and get the details, apply to sit for the exam and see where you go from there. However; to go this route time is of the essence due to the application cap of 3,000

Good luck

Hi!

That is also not possible. You need a SIN number to write an exam. People from visa waiver countries don't get a SIN number automatically. Thanks

Dear All!

I have a break through here. Finally I have found how to get Certificate of qualification from Canadian provincial/territorial body if you are outside of Canada. It seems near to impossible but one can still try.

here is the link

http://www.cicic.ca/413/assessment-of-credentials-for-employment-in-canada.canada#3

3. If I want to work in a regulated occupation, what can I do to get my qualifications assessed and recognized?

Find out the name and address of the professional regulatory body governing your profession/trade in the province or territory where you intend to settle by enquiring with CICIC.
Write to the regulatory body and ask about the specific requirements and costs for licensing, certification, or registration, as well as the recommended procedure for an assessment. The regulatory body will advise you concerning the required documentation and the fees for assessment.

I summarise the above. It says to check if you can get a certificate of qualification in your trade from a Canadian provincial/territorial body when you are outside of Canada, you need to contact the regulatory body and ask about the specific requirements and costs for licensing, certification, or registration, as well as the recommended procedure for an assessment

for example

if some one is plumber from UK

he will go to this link

http://www.cicic.ca/403/occupational-profiles-for-selected-trades-and-professions.canada

then put plumber here

click search

then click plumbers 7251

http://www.cicic.ca/684/Plumbers.canada?noc=7251

then

http://www.cicic.ca/684/Plumbers.canada?noc=7251#list

Trade certification can be either compulsory or voluntary. To practice in trades where certification is compulsory, workers must generally be certified or registered as apprentices. In trades where certification is voluntary, certification and apprenticeship are often used to indicate the level of competency of the holder, but workers are not required to be registered or certified in order to practice. Red Seal Certification itself is never mandatory, except where indicated as such by jurisdictions in specific legislation. Once you know where you will settle and work in Canada, you should contact the appropriate provincial/territorial office (see list below) for further information about licensing or certification.

and if you want to settle for example in Alberta you need to email

aitinfo @ gov.ab.ca

and ask them if they can accept your foreign qualifications and work experience as plumber and issue you a certificate of qualification without passing a exam and not being present in Canada

Alberta - Apprenticeship and Industry Training
7th Floor, Commerce Place, 10155 -102 Street
Edmonton AB T5J 4L5 Canada
Phone : (780) 427-8765
Fax : (780) 422-7376
Email : aitinfo @ gov.ab.ca

The above seems impossible but you can still contact and ask if any chance. Thanks

OK everything seems clear about Federal Skilled Trades Class LIE. Then my question is so simple;

Why my lawyer thinks (he is pretty sure) that he can get a certificate on behalf of me if I send him all my documents, references, etc. related to my professional competence? (Even I have never been to Canada before)

He is a Canadian citizen and says my certificate will not be the first one for him. Is it possible someone to get a certificate for you?

As far as I have researched, in order to obtain a certificate, you must pass the test in Canada. Also, not everyone is going to be allowed to show on the test. Trade organisation first evaluates your education, work experience, they call your employers by phone to ask about you and then decide if they are going to give you a chance at all.
From what you wrote it seems to me like a scam. Try not to give him any money if possible.
Fee for evaluating your documents by trade organisations vary from one province to another and is $100-450.

Guys, the first stage is to get an approval letter from Apprenticeship and Occupational Certification and i think you can get this from outside Canada...you must fill a form, list there all your work experience in trade, all contact info from your previous employer ,because they will call to check ,you will need your certificate from your country translated in English, pay some fee depend in what province you ask for this approval letter. If they are satisfied you will get this approval letter and they will give you a frame time to write the exam( in New Brunswick is 3 years and in Alberta i think is just 1 year) ...This approval letter is very important because if you have it you can start working in your field ,no matter if you took the red seal exam

May I ask what trade? and how you applied? and what was requested? (oh also seeing the date) did you sit the exam and pass? if so did you sit the exam in Canada on a visitor visa or which visa?
Sorry for all the questions. :)
