Hello all :)

Bit of a weird question this, but I have a work permit waiting for me in Canada but i was wondering if i could go to Canada as a visitor for a couple of weeks and then collect my work permit after? I just thought i would get a feel for the place before i use my time on my work permit?

So say if i arrive on Feb 1st can i collect my permit on Mar 1st?

I hope that makes sense?

Thanks for your help guys.

Yes, but you would have to return to a Border Port of Entry to activate it. Ensure that you tell the IO on entry that you only are entering as visitor for time being and will activate your WP later.

Hello,
I have a similar problem. I have a valid POE letter but am already in Canada as a visitor. Do I need to go to the US border to activate the work permit (flagpoling), or is there a bureau of some kind where I can do this? I have the option to receive it via mail, but this could take up to 8 weeks (which is too long because my funds will run out soon) Because of Covid19, I am afraid to go to the border though  Thanks in advance

Hi, I have similar question related to flag poling. Do they process applications at flag poling or they turn away? Secondly, for covid testing, what should be the destination? Should it be Canada or USA? Thanks.
