Co-Signer needs to be within Canada?

hi all,

My wife and I did a soft landing in aug 2016 and will have to relocate by aug 2019. We have had two children (who are not Canadian prs) born before we relocate.

I am the sponsor while my wife is the co signer. May I know if my wife (co signer) can be in my home country taking care of the kids while I’m physically located within Canada. They will all move once sponsorship is approved since we are from a visa exempt country- singapore. Based on what I see it is abt 2-4 wks for an approval.

No point in having a co-signer for a dependent child sponsorship app.

Where on earth are you getting 2-4 weeks??? Expect a minimum of 6 months for the sponsorship app.

Please read my post carefully. I am referring to sponsorship approval phase, and not inclusive of the pr approval phase. Approval of sponsorship is typically 6-7 weeks per what I read in this thread. I am aware that the full process can take up to 3-6 months.

"Sponsorship" refers to the entire process. "Sponsor approval" is different.
