Hi. I am an Australian currently working in Ontario as a nanny. I arrived in dec 13 and my WHV expires in dec of this year. I am now to old to apply for a new WHV (I'm 33) so I was wondering if someone could give me some advice as to which would be my best option at staying in Canada. My employers are currently in the process of obtaining an LMIA (ongoing since March due to rule changes every couple of months) and he application is currently with service Canada waiting on approval. My question is can I apply for permanent residency under the Canadian experience class, being that I have been in working in Canada nearly 2 years or am I ineligible to apply through that route due to my profession not being considered skilled? Or would I be better off just applying for a closed working permit tied to my employer and if so how would I go about getting permanent residence after that?

You are not eligible for CEC since your work experience in Canada is unskilled.

Based on the information you have provided - there is no clear path to PR for you. If your employers obtained an LMIA for a live in care-giver and you worked for them in this capacity, then you would qualify to apply for PR after 2 years of experience as a live in caregiver. The downside of this route is that the processing times for these PR applications are long (around 4 years).
