Hi everyone,
I have a stupid situation right now. Please somebody give me an advices what can I do, what would be the next step to PR?
One year ago I got a new closed work permit from my employer, basically they extended my work permit (it was open) with LMO until 2014 summer, but after month I left that company (the reason was - company doesn't have a lot of work, so they just were doing everything, that to fire everybody, who is a new guy etc.). Now if I want to work, I need to find another employer with a new LMO, change work permit etc., but it is too difficult to do that, because you can start work only then, when you already have a new work permit, no probation term, no nothing. I mean, how an employer could know, that his choice (I'm talking about me) is a good. I don't say, that it's not possible, but it is a little bit difficult action to do that.
So, my questions would be:
1. I have almost one year experience (without a few days), so I could apply through the CEC. But by the rules, when you are applying, you must have an employer, a valid work permit, basically you have to work legally at that moment when you are sending those applications. So I'm not sure about it, I'm not working right now, because I can't. But my work permit is valid, just it has some notices, that only one exactly that employer. Am I right? What happens if I just will pass CELPIP test and will send those applications?
2. My friend can hire me at his company, but again he needs to apply for LMO, then to hire me in different position, I mean another occupation (for example as a manager, by my diploma). I could apply by PNP program. But he is only one in company. Is it sounds possible? :)
3. I'm challenging exam (apprenticeship) for journeyman ticket. If I will pass it, then I could try to apply by "Strategic Recruitment Stream" program. But again, I will need a valid work permit and exactly with that occupation. So I don't know, do I have a valid work permit or no?
4. And the last question would be about a new company. I heard, that some guys have work permits with "ABC" companies and they opened own companies for additional works and working with no problem. Is it legally to do that? Just when they will apply for PR through the program, they won't to write this info in application. I'm talking about for example my situation, time is going, I need money, to do something with my work permit or a new employer, or apply directly through the which program anyway it will take for awhile. What can I do right now?
I know, that simple step would be a new work permit, a new employer etc. But if to change my work permit, it will be probably another occupation, it means, that I can't apply by "Strategic Recruitment Stream" , what I wrote in 3 question. What would be the best way to do something and to get PR?
Maybe somebody was in similar situation and can give me some advices. Would be great.
Thanks a lot

Tom

Hi canada1985,
I understand you very well. It's stupid. But it is what it is. Try to figure out what you have and what you still need in your situation.
I still don't know about me. I spoke with consultant, but nothing. Those consultants just know how to filled out forms and take for that thousands $, but if is it a real situation, where I need from the law person help, they don't know what to do. You know what they suggested to me? Just go find another employer and then about 6six months for LMO and a new work permit. Jesus, why do I need today a new employer and then to wait for awhile (6months) to get LMO etc. if I already have 12months Canadian experience? So I need just to pass CELPIP test and to apply by CEC, then to apply for an open work permit. And probably this process would take less, than they suggested to me another way. Besides, I will apply for PR directly, but not just for a new LMO etc.
And it's interesting thing about self-employed, I mean in my situation to open my own company (small business). I asked for specialists from H&R block (taxes) about that and they said, that I could open it, to pay taxes. Registry doesn't say nothing, you can open a company. I understand, that my work permit is closed, but if I got fired? So what now? I need to pay my bills. Also I do not something bad, I will pay taxes and I will contribute with Canada economics growth.
So I decided to challenge CELPIP test soon and then to apply by CEC. It will take about 3-4 months until I will apply. There is no reasons to start looking for a new employer, I mean if we compare terms both ways together. Of course, this is for today, I'm not sure what will be later. As a day, as another news. :)
