Dear All,

Hope you are keeping well

Looking for some guidance on my Closed Work permit application (applied from India - Online)

The company I am currently working at in India wants me to join their Canadian operations and hence executed a request for a Closed Work Permit. Post that, using the LMIA number i completed my Closed Work Permit application (with spouse on linked open work permit) on 31-01-2021. Subsequently i got a request for medicals on 15-02-2021 and completed this on 18-02-2021. Subsequently got a mail and status update that medicals were passed on 22-02-2021. Subsequent to that we have got no updates. Had two queries related to this:

1) Biometrics: As per the application checks- i am biometrics exempt as my biometrics is available with IRCC from a previous application. However my spouse does not have her biometrics on record and we had indicated the same. In both are our respective application pages - biometrics status currently shows as "We do not need your fingerprints. We will send you a message if this changes". Wanted to understand if this will update with a request for my spouse's biometrics or is it not required

2) Status Check: Additionally wanted to check is there a way to check the status of the Work Permit Application. Not able to find any contact number or case specific query form - where we can check with IRCC. If its available, wanted to check with them if any documentation is pending and current status of application (potential ETA) ?

Thanks in advance,

1, You would need a new employer, with a new approved LMIA and then you have to apply for a new work permit.
