Hi.

I'm on deputation working at Client site. My employer doesn't provide work experience reference letter. My client manager is flexible & willing to give the letter. Does Visa officer consider this?

Thanks.

Hey,

Check at the top of the check list. It is clear that you have to provide enough supporting docuemntation to support your experience such as T4, Notic eof assessment, offer letters etc... in case reference letter is absent from your end.

As per the guide lines, Reference letter should be on the company letter head. My opinion in this regard is that client letter may not be good enough unless it is on your employer letter head and i don't think any client would be issuing a letter on your employer letter head.

It is a fair idea to have letter from client if they are ready to face any queries raised by immigration officer in the entire long pprocess till u get PR. More over this should not impact your employer relation with the client due to any uncomfortable queries coming from the immigration. This may at times result in your termination because the employer reputation with client is at stake with this kind of activities.

I have few friends who had this issue and they succeed by submitting all the documents related to work experience as proof.

Give a thought before going for this option.

Wishing u all the best..

While it's good to have the client letter, recent experiences reported on this board indicate that it is not a substitute for the employer letter - the employer letter is a must.

Other applicants have submitted all kinds of additional documentation, but it mostly has not satisfied CIC. A signed contract that specifies all the required details MAY help your case, but few in your situation have been able to come up with an acceptable document.

Client letter might end up hurtinjg you, they might misunderstand and treat your experience as self employed which would render you ineligible for cec

Hi love-canada, jes_ON & ihabkal,

Many thanks for your response. I've T4s, Payslips, Notice of assessments for more than 2 years. Based on your recommendation, I'll not submit client letter considering the probable trouble with that (my employer relationship/reputation with client etc & also termination risk).

Until last year, Checklist in Section 6 Work Experience suggested the following...

"If you cannot provide a reference from an employer, provide a written explanation and any documentation that would support your claim to such employment and provide the information as set forth above"

But this year's CEC checklist Section 10 "Work Experience in Canada" doesn't have this. But at the at the top of checklist it says...

"If you're unable to provide any of the requested documentation, include with your application, a written explanation with full details as to why that documentation is unavailable and any documentation that would support your claim. If your application lacks any of documents without reasonable justification, it will be returned to you or in certain circumstances could result in the refusal of your application."

So I'm puzzled. Will Case officer still consider the application without a proper employer reference letter? I'm hopeful that Case officer considers other aforesaid documents (T4 etc) in lieu of reference letter.

Thanks again for your valuable recommendations.

Company letterhead is almost critical. Make sure you request another one from your company. I would strongly suggest not to send out your application without meeting all the requirements for the reference letter. Your application can easily get rejected.

This was not my recommendation, I think it is a good thing to include the client's letter but you must also have your employer's letter (in which case there'd be no chance of confusing you with self-employed). But I am not in your shoes and am not aware of the risks you describe.

Until last year, Checklist in Section 6 Work Experience suggested the following...

"If you cannot provide a reference from an employer, provide a written explanation and any documentation that would support your claim to such employment and provide the information as set forth above"

T4s are required IN ADDITION TO the reference letter, they can't replace it. Get that out of your head. The change in instructions was made because too many applicants took that as a license to apply without the Letter of Employment. CIC gave them an inch, they took a mile... and were refused as a consequence. As reported on this and other boards, the lack of an employer's reference letter will almost certainly result in a refusal, at least as currently being processed by CIC.

Consider this - any one or even several of those documents are possible to fake, therefore CIC requires multiple sources of evidence that can easily be verified. If you wanted exceptions to the Letter requirement, you'd in effect be expecting CIC to launch its own investigation, processing times would expand by several years, costs would go up, etc... That would be bad for all of us.

Hi Jes_ON,

Thanks for your reply. My issue is that my previous PR application under CEC class (filed in Nov 2011) got rejected in March 2012. VO mentioned that employer reference doesn't have sufficient information proving my complete 2yrs experience in Canada. At that time, I've used one of my Visa extension letter. Now I'm going to use latest work Visa extension letter along with my client letter.

My dilemma is to submit application with BOTH work Visa extension reference letter & Client letter or just my employer's visa extension letter. Some of posts scared me that using client letter may fire back. So I would like to be very careful with my submission...

Thanks for helping with valuable information again...much appreciated.

I don't see how your client letter could backfire.

But I also don't know if your visa extension letter will be accepted in lieu of a Letter of Employment, or whether it has all the required details for a Letter of Employment.

Hi, i am a dentist working privately and is not under any organization. Is it possible that my dad can issue an experience letter since him being a dental surgeon too we practice combinely?

If not, how do i provide proof of my own practice? My practice/clinic is not registered but i do have license from Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council since i passed out in 2013(including internship).

Can anyone kindly suggest which documents i would require in order to prove my clinical experience.

Is there any format for reference letters from clients/patients? Is yes, i would highly appreciate if i get some samples.
I am desperately in need of this information.
Thanks in advance
