Hi all,
I have finally got all the forms to sponsor my partner, I have paid the online fees, I have the receipt, all ready to send the package off but one question - on the receipt I have to hand wrote my address etc., it says 'client ID' I don't have one of those - is that because I am sponsoring someone or do need to get a client ID number and if so how?

Thanks in advance

This is a number somebody receives if they have received a visa for Canada before, 8 digits. Also known as UCI. To my understanding you can leave this blank, or put the principal applicants Client ID there. If your partner has received a visa before, the UCI should be visible there.

Please wait for others to add their thoughts too.

Thanks for the reply Graihn,
my partner has not applied before; nether of us has a client ID so I am going t leave that part blank because how can we get a client ID unless we submit the forms.

I have similar question but in my case, i had a visitor visa before so I have a client ID. My husband (canadian citizen) who is the sponsor paid the fees. In that receipt, should I put my client ID? or can I leave it blank. Planning to send it off next week.

If it asks for your UCI put the UCI, if it asks for your partner's leave it blank since your husband doesn't have one. That way there is no confusion as everyone is issued their own UCI, hence the Unique in Unique Client Indentifier. When we received SA, on my hubby's (sponsor's ) email he was issued his own UCI different from mine, A number he never had before. The less confusion the better. Best of luck, you'll be fine.

Thanks! We just leave it blank. Ready to send it off tomorrow!
