My family and I landed in Toronto on 3rd September. This is our 3rd landing, the first being in August 2009. This time we intend to settle in Canada. We sent our personal belongings by ship. In 2009 during our 1st landing, we produced to the airport authorities the duly filled up the B4A(05) 'Personal Effects Accounting Document' form and got it signed/stamped by them.
Our goods have now reached Canada and we are to go to customs clearing warehouse on 19th September. Our cargo agent in Canada tells me not to show them the B4A(05) forms as it will 'create more problems'. He further tells me to inform the customs officer on Monday that I have not filled a B4A(05) form in 2009 and also not done so during the recent landing (Also the customs at Airport also did not ask me about it)
I find his (Cargo Agent) words baffling!
In the first place, the customs officer at the airport asked me whether I have shipped goods this time. I said yse and he noted the number of boxes also on the landing card.
Secondly, I don't understand how immigrants could bring in personal effects without the B4A(05) form duly filled during the initial landing?????
Can you please educate me on this? How does it create 'more problems' if I produce the B4A(05) form???
