Hi,

I am planning to apply PR in Canadian Experience class and i have one doubt in IELTS score.

As per CIC guide line the CLB level VS IELTS score..
NOC CLB Level, Speaking, Listening, Reading, Writing
A,O,B 6 5.5 5.5 5.0 5.5

Here if you calculate the overall results it come 5.5(5.5+5.5+5+5.5 / 4) and they given CLB level as 6

Please find my IELTS score below

NOC CLB Level, Speaking, Listening, Reading, Writing
A(NOC Code 2174) 6.5 5.5 4.5 5.0

Same thing as mention above calcualtion : overall result is 5.5(6.5+5.5+4.5+5.0 /4) and here also CLB Level as 6?. In this case can i eligible to apply the PR with this score? it has same score and same CLB level?
Please suggest me..

See your CLB and compare againest CIC rule for CEC

NOC CLB Level, Speaking, Listening, Reading, Writing
A(NOC Code 2174) 6.5 5.5 4.5 5.0

CLB 8 6 5 5

so you should have either all 7 or 2 7's one 6 and one 8 to qualify for NOC A

Try to re-take the exam

Hi surikumar, there is a chart that shows you what score matches which CLB Level. The CLB Levels are not formed from calculating the score divided by 4.

The chart is on page 14 of this CEC OP 25 manual
www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/op/op25-eng.pdf

According to the chart, your scores would have:
Speaking 6.5 = CLB Level 8
Listening 5.5 = CLB Level 6
Reading 4.5 = CLB Level 5
Writing 5.0 = CLB Level 5

The minimum combination for your CLB Levels for Skill Level 0, A, B are
7, 7, 7, 7 and
8, 7, 7, 6

Because your CLB Levels are 8, 6, 5, 5, they do not qualify for Skill Level 0, A, B

You can visit the IELTS forum because there are many information regarding IELTS and its free practice tests online!

Good Luck

I think that's for NOC B. If you are still not sure, just apply and once it's get rejected you will believe the fact.

Sorry about that but if you want to apply under 2174 you are not eligible with respect to your IELTS score.

Like you said at the beginning, you want to apply with NOC 2174 and this position is under Skill Level A.

According to CIC:

For applicants with qualifying Canadian work experience of Skill Type 0 or of Skill Level A of the NOC

If CLB levels... Then...
-are all 7 or higher, or - the applicant passes minimum required language levels
-are 6 for any one ability,
7 or higher for any other two, and
8 or higher for the remaining ability

-do not meet this requirement - the applicant fails minimum required language levels

Don't forget to read Page 15 also on the OP Manual. And following what the manuals said, your scores are too low for Skill Level A

Spot on .....Johnny31

hey Kumar you have to re-sit for Ielts......

Please help me! according to the new law of CLB 7 am I eligible for NIC A (I am a medical practitioner) for Skilled worker?
S:8 = CLB 8
L:7 = CLB 7
R:7 = CLB 8
W: 5.5 = CLB 6
If I must have CLB 7 in each skill, I would not be elligible
But if the law of: 6 for any one ability, 7 or higher for any other two, and 8 or higher for the remaining ability still exists, I would be eligible.
Please help me that according to the new law for immigration starting on May 4th 2013, are my scores OK?or I should re-sit :(

It is very clear that as per new law it is not OK. You should have CLB 7 or above in all four. The concession was applicable only till new 1 year experience rule come into effect. So yes you need to take the test again.

cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/op/op25-eng.pdf
In the link above it is mentioned that:
If CLB levels
are all 7 or higher, or
are 6 for any one ability, 7 or higher for any other two, and 8 or higher for the remaining ability
Then the applicant passes minimum required language level.
You mean that it has changed? :(

You have mentioned you are planning to apply under skilled worker category. The document you have referred to is for Canadian Experience Class. This does not apply for you. AFAIK, skilled worker category is closed now (except PhD stream). Are you already in Canada?

No, I've not been in Canada..The acceptance of FSW will start on 4th May 2013, you mean that the new laws for FSW have not been announced yet?
What about the news released on 18th August 2012 mentioning:
"Initially, it is anticipated that the threshold would be set at Canadian Language Benchmark 7 (CLB 7) or Niveau de compétence linguistique canadien 7 (NCLC 7) for all four abilities (speaking, oral comprehension, reading and writing)." //gazette.gc.ca/rp-pr/p1/2012/2012-08-18/html/reg2-eng.html
Does this mean that CLB 7 is needed in all of the skills? or I should wait for releasing the new laws?

My IELTS score is like below

Listening 6.0
Reading 7.0
Writing 6.5
Speaking 7.0

What will be my point in language section?

Thanks in advance.

Your Q is not clear to me. I believe you are asking your IELTS score equivalent in terms of CLB

If so,

Listening 6.0 = CLB= 7
Reading 7.0= CLB= 9 & above
Writing 6.5= CLB= 8
Speaking 7.0= CLB= 9 & above

According to your IELTS score your absolutely eligible (in terms of language requirement) under 0, A and B NOC classes
