CLB equivalent for 6.5 score in IELTS Speaking - General Training to apply PR

Dear All ,

My first post on this forum. Kindly advise on below.

1) What is the CLB equivalent for 6.5 score in IELTS Speaking - General Training to apply for PR under CEC ?

2) For above #1, I saw an answer as 8 ( i.e., 6.5+1 = 7.5 and rounded to next full band). If this is true why other 3 abilities are rounded down by 0.5 but only for speaking its up by 0.5. Kindly clarify the confusion.

3) If an IELTS score of 6.5 in all 3 or any one from Listening , Reading and Writing, the CLB score will be 7. Is this true ? If so, why? Just for my reference I am requesting.


4) Finally, If we get below IELTS scores (3 combinations) to apply for PR under NOC 2171 ('A' skill type) in CEC, would it be good to apply or need to retae the IELTS ? Many of my friends have this doubt including me.

Listening - 6
Reading - 5
Writing - 6
Speaking - 6.5

OR

(B)
Listening - 6
Reading - 6
Writing - 5
Speaking - 6.5

OR

(C)
Listening - 5
Reading - 6
Writing - 6
Speaking - 6.5

5) Is the new rule going to be implemented to apply for PR under CEC with 12 months of work experience in Canada ? Where can we see this rule officially like CIC web site link ?

Hi Sri,

Unfortunately the scores are not sufficient to apply for CEC under 'A' skill type even if you apply by Dec' 31, 2012 or after that. The proposed Listening , Speaking, Reading and Writing CLB score will be 7. which may get become effective starting next year.
