Hi all,

I am applying for my PR under Canadian work experience. I had my IELTS test and here's what I got:

Speaking 8 and all 3 other skills 6.5. I am under skill level A and I am wondering if my score if OK for applying or I have to write the test again?

You are way above Alex.
Go ahead with your PR - CEC application. All the very best.

Are you sure?

On page 6 of the guide it is saying:

If you have qualifying Canadian work experience at Skill Type 0 or Skill Level A of NOC, your test results must match the CLB/NCLC below (see chart):
1. 7 or higher for each of the language abilities, or
2. 6 for any one of the language abilities, 7 or higher for any other two of those abilities and 8 or higher for the remaining ability,

Mine is not any of them... But under the chart on the same page, I am eligible...

NOC CLB Level Test result for each ability
Speaking Listening Reading Writing
0, A 8 6.5 7.5 6.5 6.5 6.5
0, A 7 6.0 6.0 6.0 6.0 6.0
0, A, B 6 5.5 5.5 5.0 5.5
B 5 5.0 5.0 4.0 5.0 5.0
B 4 4.0 4.5 3.5 4.0 4.0

It is really confusing. A friend of mine who is applying under the same class, said I should aim for 7.5 for all skills...

Speaking 8.0 = CLB 8 (on the table, 6.5 is needed to get CLB 8..your score is higher)
Reading 6.5 = CLB 8 (from the table, 6.5 corresponds to CLB 8 )
Writing 6.5 = CLB 8 (from the table, 6.5 corresponds to CLB 8 )
Listening 6.5 = CLB 7 (you didn't have 7.5 to get CLB 8 and there is no 6.5, so you round down to 6.0 which corresponds to CLB 7)

Your scores correspond to CLB 8, 8, 8, 7 ... you need 7 or higher for each ability to meet requirements for skill type 0 or skill level A and you have that. Note that the 7(in red) is referring to the CLB level.

Thanks a lot. It makes sense now. So, I am good to apply? Right? If by any chance, they do not accept my scores in IELTS, are they gonna reject me or they will just keep my documents and ask me to complete it by having another IELTS test?

No chance of rejection on the grounds of IELTS score for sure.

Andy is right... your score qualifies for skill level A and skill type 0.

Hi,
I want to apply for my PR under Canadian work experience. My IELTS results:

Speaking 7, writing 5,5, reading 6, listening 5,5. I am under skill level A and I understand that it is not enough, right?
Should I try to apply with it or it doesn't make any sense?

You will have to attempt IELTS once again. Do take note that going forward, CIC is expected to get more strict with the IELTS score (expect minimum CLB 7 starting 01 Jan 2013 as per proposal).

If score is Speaking - 7.5
Listening - 7.5
Reading - 7
Writing - 5.5
is good for NOC A? As requirement is 6 for any one of the language abilities, 7 or higher for any other two of those abilities and 8 or higher for the remaining ability. Writing 5.5 equivalent to CLB 6, rest equivalent to CLB 8 considering applying this year not in 2013. Am I correct?

Yes. Good enough. ;)
Your IELTS score qualifies for CEC.

thanks Andy... I am preparing my documents, i would have 1 year experience on Oct 10. Do I need to show a bank statement? if so what should be the amount?

Guess you fall into the category of "Student graduated with a Canadian educational credentia" and need only 12 months of qualifying work experience.
Bank statement not usually required in CEC. It needs to produced only if warranted by the Officer. No "amount" criteria in case of CEC application.
