Dear

I understand that B4A is extension of B4 in case one runs out of space, but . .

1. Where can I download B4A -- I see no separate download link for that on CIC website, there is only B4 form download link . .

2. Is there anything on the B4A form, that distinguishes it in appearance or format from the B4 form ? Is it written anywhere on the B4 A form that it is infact just that ?

If not then are we just loosely using the term B4A to refer to additional sheets of B4 ?

I plan to first land in canada with my family for short time -- 2 months and then return permanently after 2-3 years

3. In form B4, ther are four classification type -- which one will I Tick now in accompanying goods B4 and which one will I fill in B4 GTF ?

Qorax mentioned some 'Newcomer' Box, but thats not present in the form

4. The form requires a canadian address, but our initial canadian address will be temporary as in a hotel which would change to some other address in future -- so should we just put the hotel address or should we put address of our relative who is permanently settled there ?

Thanks

1. You can't find it on the IRCC site, because it is CBSA form : http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/b4a-eng.html
2. Yes.
3. There is a box to check if they are goods to follow.
4. Address of relatives,

Dear PIMM

Thanks for the reply and for addressing all my queries

However, one question remained unanswered ..

In Form B4, there are four classification types (settler, Seasonal resident, beneficiary and former resident)

If Im landing in canada initially for 2 months and will return later after 1 year to settle permanently, which boxes shall i select

1. Now ?
2. Later ?

Thanks

@PMM
Please advise.
If one has no relatives' address to provide, what should they do?
They can't indicate the address of the place of temporary accommodation, obviously.

Thanks

One solution is to stay initially at a place like Safehomestay or other newcomer hotel that has the added facility of couriering you the cards later.

You can ask them and give their address.

Check for other such services on google or this forum

Thanks

For those that may still be struggling with the address issue, you can use the address of your place of temporary accomodation.
Personally, I left the fields blank on both B4 and B4A forms. The customs officer asked for my hotel address; he actually filled it in himself, and I was off. No problems at all.

For the B4 goods follow form how are the following fields need to be filled:

1) . Country of Origin

2). Country of Export

If I'm currently living in the UAE and am originally from UK what should I put in these two fields.

Also should I sign the form beforehand or I need to sign it in front of the customs official.

Also for Jewellery is it mandatory to include pictures. The official requirements don't specify that for jewellery pictures are needed so would like to confirm.

Also do I need to check the additional list of goods other box in the middle of the form if I will be attaching several pages of listings?

Thank you all in advance for your time and help.

http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/b4a-eng.html - I clicked on this link but it gives me a 404 error message.

I also have a question regarding form B4 and B4A. If my 1st landing is for only a week, should I just fill out goods to follow instead goods accompanying ? I will be moving permanently in October so I can bring goods to follow with me for 2nd landing, correct?

If you have items such as smartphones, laptops etc. I'd advise you do a GAL.

I am getting the same 404 error.

I wonder if this is the new replacement form for B4:
http://www.cbsa.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/bsf186-eng.pdf

And this for B4A
http://www.cbsa.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/bsf186a.pdf

The forms are called PERSONAL EFFECTS ACCOUNTING DOCUMENT - DOCUMENT DE DÉCLARATION EN DÉTAIL DES EFFETS PERSONNELS

Your first link is the B4 form, if you look in the footer section of it, you'll actually see it indicated. The second link, is the B4A (also indicated at the bottom of the form).

Note that the B4A is an extension of the B4. In the event that list of items it too long to fit on the B4, you can use the B4A for the list, and indicate a summary (probably the categories) on the B4.

Hope that clarifies.

Thanks,

Just clarifying because

1. The earlier link does not work
2. The file name is BSF 186
3. This number is also in the footer of the form.

What is GAL? I do have smartphones and couple of laptops that I want to bring with me eventually.

This might be a silly question but what does Goods to follow actually mean? Does it mean you can bring the goods with you at a later date or if it can shipped from your home country to Canada through mail? Will customs check to see if Goods to follow list matches your items? Lastly B4 is used for both Goods to follow and Goods to accompany, correct?
