Hi all

i am applying under general category for study visa and have about 4 years of experience. i am concerned about 1 thing tho- i have all the experience letters from my employers but one of the company that I previously worked with has now shut down.

i wanted to know if CIC calls the employer(now shit down) to verify the employment, what will happen ?

views appreciated.

thanks

yes they call employers to verify but not always if they think something is fishy ...people have gotten rejections due to false employment records....and once u get black listed for fraudulent documentation getting a visa later would be next to impossible.....

my suggestion ur better off not attaching that experience letter..there was a case on the forum where the posters company had changed the phone number but the letterhead the number was not changed ..CIC called the employer on the basis of the letterhead number and gave poster a 30 days to explain......dont know what happened after that but be careful

Hey Mead

Is it alright to have a year gap between 2 jobs like u suggested?
If that is okay what do you suggest I should write, IMO writing umemployed will be like a bad mark on my profile.

Thanks

Although Mead is right about the example he has given you. He is talking about Seema Sinha, another user on this forum, she faced this issue, although she withdrew her application.

About your case, it's not a new thing to know when some companies shut down their business. If it was your first job, you can skip it, if it's in between two jobs, I don't think it's a good idea to skip. What you should do is (this is an idea only), write about it in your SOP and also write one line on the top of experience letter (on the photo copy which you will be submitting) about the company's current status of being closed.
