Can either be a business audit or personal audit and each of those can be broken down further to send everything CRA asks for yourself and wait or CRA could send an audit officer to your location to have it done.

CRA can go back as much as 7yrs. Meaning you need to find your tax returns, tax refunds, proof of everything that you claimed going as far back as they are requesting. All rental payment/lease receipts. Property tax receipts etc, copies of pay stubs if asked. etc.

They will recalculate everything from the effected time period given that is questioned by them.
If your lucky you might get a cheque from them after or if you are unlucky at the end of the audit you may find yourself with a bill and or additional fines levied against you that need to be paid.

There is more to it then that but its a quick description.
