They told me they were doing Nov 10 when I called 2 weeks ago! They took out the money for mine from my credit card on Jan 24th though and I mailed mine on Nov 10. I would guess they received it around the 18th or so, as it takes about 7 days to mail from Canada to the US. I just sent my PR application on Jan 28th with a letter stating I'd mail the PC once I received it.

Hello all,
So I sent my FBI Background check for my Family class Sponsorship forms on Oct 17 2014 which was received on Oct 29 2014. The payment was cleared on Jan. 12th. Does anyone know when i should be receiving my background check in the mail. It has been 14 weeks ??? I finished my medical exam Jan 26. This wait has been to long but I am hanging in there.

I just got off the phone. They are finalizing applications from Oct 21st. Our application is from the 22nd, so I was told my husbands will be processed over the weekend. Then they do a 24hr hold, just incase they need to pull the report because something pops up. They said it should be mailed on Tuesday and to call back Tuesday to check the status.

Also, better hope your fingerprints are good. They don't examine the prints until they process it. Imagine, waiting all this time to learn the prints where no good

Well, after 17 weeks of waiting, we learned this morning from calling CJIS that the fingerprints, which were taken by law enforcement, were rejected. Now we HAVE to turn to a channeler. Good luck to all those waiting on their reports!

Ok, I just called again. I mailed my prints off on November 10. The guy said they received them on November 18th and my file is being processed right now and to expect to receive my identity history summary around 16 weeks from the date received. So, according to that, I should be getting it around March 10th! I'm just going to assume this means my prints were accepted and good.

I wish... Ask them when they process the prints, it's the very last step. Right now your file has been open and sits in another queue to be processed. My husbands prints were rejected this weekend, he's a Oct 22nd applicant. Stay on top of them, as the date nears. They will tell you over the phone if the prints are rejected. They actually didn't see it under his name, we had to go into another system and use the SSN, thats where it was noted about the rejected prints.

I also learned from the Live Scan location we went to this morning, that the new system in place at CJIS has a high rejection rate. Now the prints are being scanned and accepted or rejected by a computer and there is no longer a person to review the rejected prints.

Thank goodness CIC is accepting channeler reports!

Oh, I hope I don't have to do them again. I'm in Canada, so I can't use a channeler. The place where I got my prints done gave me two sets. I wish I had sent them both in.

Usually, I go to local police station and get the fingerprints printed on card. Most police stations these days have fingerprint scanners. These scanners prompt the operator about the accuracy of scan thus eliminating the chances of rejection.

Where I live, in NJ, non of the agencies are allowed to use the live scan (e finger printing) for FBI fingerprint requests. They have to use the old fashion ink roll. We drove down to Baltimore and had the live scan done yesterday. The agency also printed the prints onto an FBI fingerprint card. We came home and compared it to the other sheet of rolled prints we had on hand (done at the same time with the rejected prints) and the clarity was so much better with the live scan. The two hours there and two hours back was worth the drive!

Another thing I noticed about the live scan. The technical kept adding moisturizing lotion to my husbands tips to help bring out the contrast.

Called them today. They are opening applications received on 5th Dec. My application reached them on Dec 8.

All those reports are 2013 and earlier. It appears they've changed, I posted a pic of my channeler report mailed to me on tamper proof paper, the report also qualifies for an apostille by the State Dept if one was needed.

FBI received my application on : Dec 8, 2015
I received the FBI report on : Mar 23, 2015

Total Time: 106 days (3 months and 16 days)
