Dear all
I have a question with regards to the title above
If someone was charged with violation of copyright civilly and fined with 2k dollars for that, will that affect any thing in the background check of the citizenship application?

I believe it depends on the conviction..summary or otherwise. What was the section under which it was charged ?

It's under copyright act, but it was a civil case not a criminal case

I don't think there is any worry based on the penalty that was imposed and civil nature...as mostly the section would be 34(4) of the Copyright Act.
Only if it is Section 42(1) there is any criminal offence..and here too, if it is summary conviction and first charge I don't think there is any issue. I am not in the legal profession / lawyer..so just sharing my views!

All the best!
