I'm a PR of Canada, I've lived in Canada with my family since July 2012 and as per the current citizenship requirements, we can apply for citizenship if we have resided in Canada 1095 days (3 yrs out of 5 yrs), which will be by next July 2015. I understand that there will be changes to the citizenship requirements (4 yrs out of 6 yrs), but would this change apply on those who have landed and lived in Canada in 2012? Also, could you please inform me as of when is it expected to implement the new changes in citizenship residency requirement ?

Yes - the rule applies to everyone. It doesn't matter when you became a PR. What matters is when you apply for citizenship. If you apply for citizenship before the new rule is applied, then you fall under the old citizenship rules. If you appy afterwards, then you fall under the new rules. It sounds like you are going to be cutting it very close. The new rules are scheduled to come into place next June / July.

Also, please note that the current citizenship residency requirement is not 3 years out of 5 years as mentioned in your first post. It's actually 3 years out of 4 years. The residency requirement for citizenship under the new rules will be 4 years out of 6 years.

Thank you for your clarification. This is sad to know the new Citizenship Law would also apply even on those who have immigrated to Canada under the previous law as usually any law which comes into effects is usually applied from its implementing date and for a family like ourselves, it would mean missing only few days to apply, if its going to be applied by June 2015:(
Could you please confirm if I understood you correctly that per the new requirements (Residency of 4 out of 6 years) does this mean we can apply in July 2017 (without having left Canada)which would be 4 years since our landing date in Canada (July 2012)?
Thanks again

If you landed July 2012 then July 2016 (not 2017) would be 4 years. And yes, if you haven't left Canada then you can apply in July 2016.
