You need 1095 days (3 years) living in Canada out of the last 4 years from your application date. So that would be Feb 14 2007 - Feb 14 2011.

If you left Canada in Jan 2008, then you would only have roughly 1 year you were living in Canada before you left. Your 2x visits a year since 2008 will not be enough to make up the other 2 years you need physically in Canada. You are way short on the required days.

Note that living abroad with your Canadian spouse will count towards your PR days but not Citizenship days unless your spouse works for the federal government or military.

What did the status online say? Was there any update?

I don't see where there is an issue for your family to be together. You are still a PR so you can live in Canada. Your two kids are Canadian as well as your spouse. So everyone can come to Canada. The only issue is that you are not a citizen yet but that doesn't really hurt you here.

yes your application still needs to be sorted out. But in terms of being able to be with your whole family in Canada, you have nothing to worry about :)

It's pretty clear your application will be refused since you did not qualify for citizenship when you applied. There is no H&C path to citizenship. If you want to become a citizenship you will need to physically live in Canada and meet the citizenship residency requirement before you apply.

However as said above, your PR status is absolutely safe and there are no issues with you living outside of Canada with your family.
