Citizenship to my children who are in my wife's application

Hello,

I am married with 2 kids (10 and 7 years old) . When we applied for the citizenship, I applied alone while my wife and kids applied in a separate application. I got the citizenship before them because my wife received an RQ and is still waiting.

My question is, since I became Canadian, can I give the citizenship to my kids who are 10 and 7 years or are are stuck with their mom's application?

Please advise

Many thanks ... And happy new year !!!

Just like you I want to apply separately for me and send my kid's application with my wife. Can you please tell me if you filled the details in the 6.G part(minor children information) in your application. I am confused as I am applying individually...because the travel history of my wife and kid's match while mine is different.

Also please let me know the month and year you applied in.. was it long ago or a recent one.

Hey Purplesaint
Would appreciate your reply regarding 6.G on the application

Hope your family gets through the RQ process faster. Many friends here have recently mentioned about getting RQ and then a test date within 3 to 4 months of sending the RQ document.

You cannot retroactively move your children to your citizenship application.

There is a process for minor children to apply without parents (basically an adult application with the adult requirements waived) but it is only done in extreme situations, typically when a child came to Canada as a refugee under the care of another relative or guardian and their parents are deceased and paperwork is lost. This wouldn't apply in your case.

Splitting up family applications is always a gamble. Unfortunately your children and your wife will have to wait. Now that you are a citizen, you may be able to advocate for them more effectively. I encourage you to contact your MP and advocate for your wife and your children's rights.

why it is gamble. If the applied as a family no one of them would get the citizenship by now.
I agree with you, Travel Dream.
In fact, CIC has the info. on the site that you have the liberty of choosing whether to apply the kid's application with the father or the mother or together.

Hi Felixo

I did not fill anything for my children in my application

Thanks
I was a bit confused, Purple Saint. Because the School Records on CIC mentions that even though we opt to apply
individually, we need to mention the kid's info in our application.

"School Records
Provide photocopies of all your official school records if applicable for the relevant four (4) year period immediately preceding the date of your application, provide.

In addition, provide photocopies of official school records for any children in Canada or abroad who are or were under the age of 18 in the past four (4) years even if you are not applying for Canadian citizenship on their behalf"

I mean it is a gamble knowing which application to put the kids on. One has to make a guess which will be processed sooner.
