I'm having very big trouble with Citizenship process. I will explain it first.

My wife completed her 1095 days for citizenship eligibility and went back home on 2011 September because of her mother was sick. In December she passed-way. She is still in my back home because of her father's sickness. she has been there for 6.5 now.

I explain the situation to my wife but she dose not like to come soon because of her father. She is planning to come for the citizenship test.

If it is, will she be in trouble during the citizenship test. Could officer hold the test for her.

Please ... please advise me... This time. If you have not idea about this can you please ask from somebody else and give me a feed back soon.

No worries about the absence after applying for citizenship. They look into the four-year period that immediately precedes the date of application.

However, your wife has to maintain her permanent residency status, by living in Canada for at least two years within a five-year period. In other words, your wife shouldn't be absent for longer than three years, which is not an issue by the sounds of it as her citizenship test would be scheduled much earlier than that.

For the most detailed information, read:

Also, for some reason if she has to miss the test just call ahead and let them know that she will not be able to make it for the test. They will reschedule the test for her. However, I would suggest not missing the test as your next appointment may be 6 months later or so (could be sooner). So just have her come back to write the test and she can leave and come back again for the oath which could be 3-4 months after the test. If she is really lucky she might get one of those same day deal for both test and oath. Oh ad make sure she reads the book for the test. All the best!
