Hi all im new to the forum and have a question about citizenship.
My father was born in Edmonton Alberta in 1950 and moved to Scotland four years later and been there since, I assume from what ive read I am Canadian through descent, my wife and I are seriously thinking about moving to Canada within the next few years so how do I go about applying for citizenship and how long would it take, thanks

I think you should contact the CIC (citizenship and immigration Canada) and they will direct you as this seems to be a major case, and I am sure they have information for you. The only question, does your father have any documents to support that he was born in Canada, i.e passport, citizenship or birth certificate.

Just give them a call and I am sure you are Canadian, the new bill C24, which is now an act did address this issue, and this is called lost Canadian, you are a lost Canadian under the new act but I do not know the deep details and I am sure many experts in this forum can have their inputs to help you

You apply for proof of citizenship. All the information and forms you require are here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/proof.asp
