Dear all!

Thanks to the shared information from this forum over the past years. I finally took the Oath Ceremony online. I signed the oath form and send it to IRCC the same day.

I am wondering if right now I am a Canadian citizen or not?

Have anyone received the Citizenship certificate? Does it say you become a citizen the same day of oath ceremony or the date that certificate was printed and mailed out to you?

I am interviewing for jobs that require citizenship. But I am not sure if I can claim myself a citizen at this moment or wait a couple of weeks.

Thank you again everyone. I will you all the best in 2022!

You are a Canadian citizen the minute you take the oath. However, you need the certificate to prove it.

The judge did say 'you are Canadian now'! You can claim the same in interviews. A job offer conditional to citizenship is grounds for urgent processing if you haven't received your certificate by then.

Thank you for that clarfification.

When I receive the citizenship certificate after several weeks, The date of grant on it is the same day of Oath, correct?

Yes. And there's a high chance that the certificate was printed before the ceremony, with the expected date on it. After all, before covid, they were given to people a few minutes after the oath was taken... :)
