You need to get a really, really good lawyer. Or, has he already been convicted and sentenced?
If the latter, was it a summary conviction or indictment, and what was the sentence?

It's his first offence he paid fines and then they put interlock device on his car for one year it will be removed this september

Deportation only comes into effect if you have been sentence imprisonment otherwise it may delay his citizenship but not deportation. automatic deportation only happens if you are sentenced for more than 6 months

how about your oath taking? are you affected with this? did they have your oath on hold too?

in a family, if one is facing criminal charge but did not apply for citizenship, will other family members be affected with that if they apply for citizenship?

No. Citizenship is a personal application and does not need to be linked with the admissibility or eligibility of any other family member.

No we can take our oath taking but we decided to wait for my husband coz it's nice to do oath taking citizenship as a family

Sorry to hear about the unfortunate thing that happened. I understand that oath taking as a family is nice. But in my opinion, it’s better that you become a citizen first.. so in case if anything happens, you can always sponsor your husband as your spouse. PR status is vulnerable and anything can happen to anyone at any time. Just my opinion .. but it all goes down to you guys’ decision.

Dont be as dumb as your husband, take the oath

Seriously, as the others said, don't wait. Take the oath.

On the plus side, you'll possibly get two ceremonies to enjoy :)

This is why one should apply for citizenship as soon as they’re eligible. Should you do ‘something stupid’ there’s no deportation.

Those who say PR status is good enough couldn’t be more wrong.
