hello all , Hoping to get help please .

My citizenship is under process and I am charged ( not convicted yet ) with domestic violence . My wife wants all changes to be withdraw bt my lawyer told me that it’s not up to her now . It’s up to judge now .
My citizenship is under process , in fact processing time is almost done and I received email from citizenship to submit RCMP PCC .
I am not charged yet . My court date is coming up on 25th this month .
Any suggestion or advice Will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all

Just curious, but in April 2018 your PR application was still in process.....so how are you applying for citizenship already? You wouldn’t be eligible until early 2020 at the earliest.
The charges against you are brought by the Crown, not your wife. This is to prevent people from coercing their significant other to drop charges. IRCC will place your application on hold pending the outcome.

Yes - you have been charged. You are charged but not convicted. Your citizenship process will be put on hold until the outcomes of your charges are known. You should let IRCC know that you have been charged. No point hiding this - they will find out.

If your wife uses this account as well I hope she knows that there is help in Canada for women and men being subjected to DV. There were 2 cases in the past month when a spouse killed his wife with a machete and the other wife was stabbed but survived, That is only what made the news in one suburb of Toronto. DV rarely only happens once. It likely has not been the first time and she deserves much better.

As someone who grew up with DV in the 70’s and lived with it everyday in a period when it was a dirty secret and the thought was “ What happens behind closed doors , stays behind behind doors “, your spouse should be talking to someone else about the situation, not you . DV never happens just once, and it affects everyone involved for YEARS, spouse , children if any
