Thanks! I had my test today and I passed. I just have a quick question, in the interview I was asked if I had any issues with the police. I was asked this question twice even though my police check has been cleared and I have no criminal record or any such thing. Rest of the interview was just verifying identity documents. Any feedback from any of the members here, please?

Just wondering to know stamps of which countries you had in those 11 trips within the eligibility period?
lol. It's a trend in this forum to group some countries together. Why the hell in this real world it's matter which 11 countries?
He emailed me about those 11 countries, USA, Australia, New Zeland, Italy, England, France, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Ireland, Greenland.
So be careful about getting RQ if you have those countries visit.

Hi all,

We have applied for citizenship and received an email today to go for an interview next month.

I wonder when does one take the citizenship test. Is it during that interview next month or do I have to book a test prior to the interview?

Please help.

You do the test before the interview, in one appointment.

Observation:

Ordinarily the notice from IRCC will clearly indicate the event scheduled is for the TEST & INTERVIEW . . . IF in fact that is what has been scheduled.

Some applicants are test exempt. And, thus, are scheduled for the Program Integrity Interview only (all applicants are subject to a PI Interview). Even then, though, there are reports that the notice for the interview nonetheless might also reference the TEST, at least in some local offices. (And indeed, being an old man who was test exempt even before the Bill C-6 changes, I too received a NOTICE which was for BOTH the Test and Interview, but I did not take the test, and my personal experience was many years ago, back when many of us had nightmares Harper might be PM for life.)

THERE ARE, POTENTIALLY, OTHER TYPES OF INTERVIEWS.

I have no idea what the status of your application is or what interview has been scheduled. As the @ZingyDNA observation suggests, in the most common scenario (with only RARE exceptions) the applicant is scheduled for ONE combined event, both the TEST and INTERVIEW, and at this event applicants FIRST take the test, and after the test there is the PI interview.

If, in the notice you received there is NO hint of being scheduled for the test, it would be prudent to read the notice carefully and discern whether there is some other kind of interview scheduled.

Among the possibilities:
-- Anecdotal reports are rare, but the PDIs refer to possible Quality Assurance interviews.
-- There are virtually no personal reports in the forum, but it is also possible for an applicant to be scheduled for an interview with a Citizenship Officer if there is an issue about eligibility OTHER THAN the presence requirement (such as whether a prohibition might be involved).

Thus, again, it would be prudent to carefully read the notice, and be sure to follow the instructions in the notice.

Again, the odds are high this is the standard, routine TEST & PI INTERVIEW event, which again as @ZingyDNA observed will proceed with the TEST first to be followed, at that same event, by the INTERVIEW.

I am just noting that there are other possibilities, not at all common possibilities, . . . in case, in reviewing your particular notice, this might be one of those other possible interviews.

Thanks.

The letter reads-

'Congratulations!

You've reached the next step in the Citizenship process. You have an upcoming appointment.'

The next line states the date, time and place of interview.

There is no other information.

I am not familiar with IRCC notices that are so succinct as this except notices which inform the applicant they will be getting further communication containing more specific instructions, or asking for additional information or documentation, and to wait until they received that additional communication.

You might want to read some of the other topics looking for discussions about how IRCC communicates, including eCAS, email, and paper/letter communications through the ordinary mail.

You can also telephone the Help Centre and try to get more information.

In any event, the routine notice for the TEST & PI INTERVIEW typically has significantly more information than you describe, typically including boiler plate information not all of which is necessarily applicable to the individual, but also including instructions . . . particularly instructions for the PI Interview, the applicant getting instructions to bring certain documents to the Interview (Identification, CoPR, PR card, and all passports, plus other original documents submitted in support of the application, like the applicant's proof of language ability). So I am not sure what to make of this particular communication. Again, it is remarkably brief.

You can start your own topic, maybe title it "Anyone get email notice of Interview only?" And basically ask this question again, including the information from your first post and the post I just quoted.

There should be many others here who have received email notices from IRCC recently who can better compare and describe their experience and hopefully help you clarify your situation.

Assuming this is a legitimate email from IRCC, obviously be prepared to attend the interview.

Even if what sort of interview this is remains uncertain, probably best to assume this is the routine TEST & INTERVIEW event (since this is the most likely scenario), and thus be prepared to take the test the same day. Good idea to be sure you have your original documents copies of which were sent with the application, which again includes: Identification, CoPR, PR card, and all passports (with translations as applicable), plus other original documents submitted in support of the application, like the applicant's proof of language ability.

Whatever communications you get from IRCC, follow the instructions you personally get.
