I am a Canadian citizen. My parents and I immigrated to Canada in 2002 as PRs, and we became citizens a few years later. My wife (a PR sponsored by me) and I had our first child earlier this year in China, now is my child a Canadian citizen? I've read articles regarding "Amendments to the Citizenship Act limit citizenship by descent”, does it apply to my child's situation?
If my child is not eligible to be a citizen, do I have to go back to Canada and start a new sponsorship application for my child?

Thanks in advance for all suggestions.

Thank you for your reply. But doesn't the "First Generation Limit" apply to my situation? It says "Canadian citizenship by birth outside Canada to a Canadian citizen parent (citizenship by descent) is now limited to the first generation born outside Canada.", which means either me or my parent has to be born in Canada. This is my primary concern. The link is below:

Your child is the first generation born abroad. Your grandkids will be the second generation if born abroad and they will not be citizens by descent, so will have to be sponsored to Canada.

Yep, I see how it works now, thanks for your reply.
