Hi, Does anyone know the exact timeline for processing proof of citizenship for minors born outside of Canada. My baby was born outside of Canada but the application was submitted a month ago within Canada with all the necessary proof required and waiting on an email.

I know online its says 5 months but any chance this could be shorter?

Unfortunately it will most likely take longer. Everything is slower right now due to COVID-19. I think the chances of faster processing is likely very low. However anything is possible.

My baby was born in America and we submitted his application 2 weeks after he was born and his citizenship certificate was ready in 2 weeks. You have got to write them a letter stating that its urgent and write urgent processing on the back of the envelope you're sending to them in Nova Scotia.

You forgot to add, you have to state the reason it’s urgent . Just saying it’s urgent , doesn’t make it urgent

Of course you have got to state the reason why it is urgent. Why would one write a letter and just state that its urgent without giving any reason? I just told them my son will need his citizenship certificate so as to get his health card for his immunizations. Period!

Hello Mayorr, I did explain in a detailed letter the current situation she facing etc.. Nothing as of yet though.
