Hi, I have a question regarding the citizenship. Does the baby born to Indian parents on work visa get Canadian citizenship by birth? Second, the PR application is in process for the parents, and may get PR right after the child's birth. Does a PR application in process will change the baby's citizenship? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Yes - the baby will be a citizen of Canada if born in Canada.

No - the PR application will not affect the citizenship of the child.

Thank you,Scylla, that was quick! :)

If you receive PR after the baby's birth, you should advise the VO and include a copy of the birth certificate. You can also update your application forms (the one about family 5406 I think it is) because you now have a child, but it will not matter to the VO because the child is Canadian by birth - in that way you have complied with the requirements that you update them on family composition changes, even though you know it will not impact your application processing.

Congratulations on your new child and imminent PR.
