Citizenship exam scheduled - no letter received

I just checked online the status of my application and found the following message:

"We sent you a notice on February 20, 2014 to appear and write the citizenship test on March 6, 2014 at 1:00 PM. The notice you will receive by mail will be your official confirmation of your appointment. If you have not received this notice prior to the date of your scheduled appointment, please contact us."

However, I did not receive any such letter till now. How can I know details of the exam - venue, what are the things I have to take with me etc. Can I take the exam without letter on hand? Anybody had similar experience?

My wife also got same message on her online application status. She is currently out-of-country, cannot attend and before leaving sent a letter to St. Clair office informing her unavailability as suggested by CIC call center agent. But still they scheduled an exam for her as well. She can't appear for the test, what to do now?

Applied: August, 2012
Processing started: March 2013
RQ submitted: October 2013
Exam scheduled: March 2014

Please do not wait anymore; call CIC at the first opportunity and let them know that you have not received the letter as yet. You would do well to take a print of your online status, if CIC a) lets you know the test center and time. b) lets you take the test without waiting for the letter to arrive.
Sorry I don't know how to deal your wife's case with CIC.

Does your wife have a copy of the letter she sent and proof of sending it? As in a tracking number and signature? Please say yes.

Your situation can be resolved by calling the Call Centre, but your wife is much more vulnerable, especially if she has no proof of correspondence with CIC. The risk is that according to OB476B, no-shows at tests result in throwing out the whole application. Oh, I'm realizing you must have applied as a family. That may be a complication as well...

In any case, you need to communicate with CIC ASAP though. It's way better to let them know that she can't appear before the test instead of after the test.

Thanks guys for your quick reply. Yes, I have proof that letter was sent to CIC St. Clair office informing unavailability of my wife with copy of travel itinerary. I retained the Canada Post registered mail slip. I'll call CIC first thing tomorrow morning. Lets see what they say...

If you applied as a family, both tests may be delayed (please, correct me if I'm wrong). But that's much better than your wife's application being cancelled.

You can mention that your wife called on X date and sent written notice of unavailability in accordance with instructions.

Also, be sure to ask the name of the agent you are speaking with. As at the beginning of the call, before you say anything. You can also ask their 4 digit agent number, since this is a very important matter, but that's up to you. At least get the name, write it down, and note the date.

You want to make sure you have your bases covered in case this gets overlooked or lost in process like your wife's previous communication. Personally, I would also ask them to send an email or something in writing affirming that the test is rescheduled for after your wife's return through no fault of your own, because the risks of missing a test are so high.

I think you should print that notification and go to the test with it if you did not receive the actual letter and explain to whoever is checking your documents that you have test but your letter did not show up....just my idea

Thanks. Thats what I'm thinking to do. But I have no information of the location of the exam etc. I'll try to get that from CIC call center tomorrow.

Adnaniut, so have you sorted your citizenship exam issues out successfully...?
