Dear Members,

My question is due to the condition-specific to Covid-19. I moved to the U.S from Canada in March 2020 for a visit but have not been able to return back due to health reasons and border conditions. I plan on applying for citizenship in Canada (PR is valid till Jan 2022) but my physical presence calculator indicates that I need to stay for 11 more months in Canada to be eligible. I do have a job in Canada and am on the payroll but I just couldn't return to the country due to border conditions and for health reasons. Is there any way that I can convince Canada Government to consider my case for citizenship without completely satisfying the physical presence condition? Can I plead for my case to at least consider half of the time that I stayed outside Canada due to Covid-19?

Appreciate all the suggestions.

Thanks

No. You are not eligible. You will have to wait until you are eligible

There are no border restrictions for PRs returning to Canada. You also have access to healthcare in Canada. Eligibility requirements aren’t flexible.

Unfortunately, the IRCC have been clear that days spent outside of Canada due to COVID-19 will not count towards eligibility. You will have to physically come back to Canada to gain eligibility.
