Citizenship Certificate received, looking to apply for Canadian Passport with different last name.

I have recently received my Canadian citizenship certificate in my maiden name (ALL of my documents are in my maiden name), but i now want to apply for my Canadian passport in my married name.

I got married in the UK before moving over to Canada and have been waiting until Citizenship to go ahead with changing all of my documents over to my married name in one go.

I am about to apply for my Canadian passport but I am unsure of the correct procedure to get my Canadian passport with a different name of that from the citizenship e-certificate etc.

For example, do I need to first change my drivers license and health care card over to my married name first before applying for the passport? Or is there anything else I'm unaware of?

Appreciate any guidance!

My understanding is yes, eg you should do driver's license.

The name printed in the passport will be the name on your proof of citizenship except if you
... adopted or resumed a last name due to a marriage, divorce, common-law relationship or end of a common-law relationship
If so, you must
provide supporting ID showing your new surname
submit your marriage/divorce/common-law certificate with your application
Sorry for the formatting horror show.

Ok great thanks!

Do you (or anyone else) happen to know whether I need to first apply for a Provincial Name Change before going to ICBC to change my drivers license and health care card?

I do not know about BC. Most provinces ex-Quebec will take marriage certificate as sufficient.

But: I do not know if there are specific requirements for those who have not used their married name after several years of marriage. As far as I'm aware timing of when to adopt spouse's name is a choice the individual can make on their own.

Side note: mostly recommended that you should make a choice of which you're going to use, at least in which context, and try to be consistent - at least for 'legal' purposes. (hope it doesn't sound like I'm being vague or abstract)
