Probably by now, we have a large number of applicants across the country who applied under the new citizenship rule (4 yrs out of total 6 yrs).

I searched but did not find any thread that's addressing that. If there is one on this forum, please advise to remove & avoid the duplication.

If not, please feel free to share your experiences under this topic for the benefit of we all.

Hi Canadiandesi2006, just want to ask regarding my citizenship. I arrive canada 2008 under LCP( Live In Caregiver Program. Applied for PR 2010 got Landed February 2014. Immigration officer told me 1yr has been credited so i only need to complete 2yrs then i can apply for citizenship. Im lost hope i can find answer here.

Thank you

Under new rules the days count after you become a PR. There is no more credit before that. And now you need 4 years out of six.

You won't qualify for citizenship until Feb 2018, 4 years after you land as PR.

When you landed in 2014, the old 3/4 rule existed. However since June 2015, the new 4/6 rule now apply, regardless of when one landed.

Unfortunately henney all answers are correct under new law only time after pr will apply but just so u know u r not the only one all i can say is just stay strong .....

Sorry for the late response, I agree with other reader's comments. Under the new rules, candidate's physical days presence in the country is basis for eligibility. However, you might consider taking some expert opinion to avoid any misunderstanding.
