Guys, I applied in October 2017 & my file should be with Mississauga. They started processing my application on January 11th 2018. This is my second time making a citizenship application as I had withdrawn my applications once back in 2012/13.

This time I have record of stay in Canada from CBSA already attached with my application & have put a small cover letter as well to provide an explanation for withdrawal in the past. I have also in the mean time obtained a complete entry and exit record from USA as I travel there for business meetings quite often. My wife & daughter applied separately and have already taken the oat few days ago. They are waiting for their passports that are supposed to arrive in a few days.

I see people in Mississauga that have files submitted in October getting test invitations. I haven't got the same and I am worried whether or not this has anything to do with the fact that I have made an application for citizenship the second time.

Any comments from experts here? It feels like the more eager & anxious I get about anything, the more nerve wracking the experience gets.

I have one other questions. I am quite definite that I passed the exam back in 2012/13 at the time that I withdrew my application. So now during this second time that I have made an application - could CIC waive the Citizenship Test & move me directly to the next step? Has something of such ever happen before ?

It consists of 3 different departments: RCMP, CISC and CBSA. RCMP is usually very fast in matter of less than 5 days if you don't have a criminal background.
CISC certificate are usually valid for 4 years unless something change. for new cert it would be around 2-3 weeks
CBSA: not predictable

Now based on your nationality and time you got your PR, this will be different.

Does anyone know what exactly CISC certificate background check is?

Thanks badar14, and do you know if it usually takes time to get back to me with a test date after I submit the FP ?
No specific set date. Normally 35-60 days

Hope for best - good luck

In simple terms, CISC is all about protecting Canada from individuals involved in activities like terrorism or conspiracy against Canada.

RCMP is all about criminality check. Person should not have any criminal record.

Background check(not sure on this one)- may be checking your work, education or residence requirement check.

All,
Just want to update you. My application was submitted on 22 December 2017.
As I said in my previous thread that I contacted IRCC through Web Form and they replied back to me after two weeks that they are not able to track my application package and I need to send them further info including Mailing package tracking number. So I did immediately through another Web form inquiry.

I received reply today as per below.

"Thank you for contacting Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). We verified the information you provided and have forwarded it to the responsible office. They will contact you if further information is required or if a decision is made on your application. We hope the information provided is helpful in assisting you with your enquiry."

Not sure whats going on ? Anyone has similar situation ? And if yes what steps you have taken ? Any suggestion ? Should I submit another application ?

Thank you

They're useless, don't waste your time with them, either wait further or send new application

If you take a look at the tracker then you will see a large number of applicants from Ontario in general still waiting for test invitations. It's nothing to worry about at this stage. You can order your GCMS notes which will be sent to you in approx 30 days and is free to apply for. This can also show you where your application is at - although if it's anything like mine, it probably hasn't gone too far :-S

Are you aware that there are some October applicants who just received AOR couple days ago and some are still waiting?
Yours was sent on December 22, 2017... think about it!

Call centre agents cannot confirm receipt of applications if nothing is entered on the system, which is exactly what AOR is about. Once your file is open and entered... you get AOR. I can understand that waiting in the dark is not nice... but sending a second app could in fact delay the process even further. Hold on!

I don't know what went wrong with our application! I didn't get anything from them yet. Called IRCC yesterday, gave me generic reply that its in progress! When did your app got delivered?
Mine was delivered on 21st Oct...we won’t be getting anything this week as they are having sessions in Regina till Friday, I am expecting something next week

Thnx for your answer

Do they start consequently right after each other ? Or there are gaps in between .. I mean when the RCMP finishes .. CISC starts right away ?
