FP shows up on ECAS, but does not mention the word "Fingerprint Request" explicitly. All it says is that some correspondence has been mailed out to you.

From what I've seen on this forum, RQ is not reflected on ECAS.

Hi Razorblade. Thanks for valuable advise. Do you have any idea that FP requests are mandatory or its by CIC selection for FP requests for selective candidates as charts on google doesnt show it for everyone.

FP are not mandatory but selective for some applicants. I have noticed tho that it has been happening to many applicants. Seem like there are more requests now in the last months.....

This happens when you share similar popular names, closeness in age etc. with someone who has a criminal record. e.g. add first names + Smith, Morgan, Brown, Mohamed, Youssef, Ahmed, Mahmoud, José, Juan etc. My wife got FP because her first and last name (maiden name) are quite popular.

Nope, not everyone is sent an FP request. It is believed that if your name and/or biographical profiles results in a hit in the RCMP database, that's when they typically request FPs, to make sure it's not you.
