Folks, don't try to be smart and print the screen of the non-printable forms. IRCC might update the form today with some alteration to some of the text without notifying anyone. You may end up sending the wrong form and cost yourself time and cash!

Guys can anyone help me out???
In Application Form it asks "During your eligibility period did you live outside of Canada??" If you answered yes please complete and submit the Residence outside of Canada form CIT 0177 ???
Does that mean if someone went on vacation for 2 weeks should also answer yes and complete this form???

agreed!

I am in a little bit of a pickle and need help. customer service line has been busy all morning couldnt reach.

my concern is with time calculator. I was a temporary worker in Canada and then a refugee claimant.

CIC website says time you spent as a claimant wont be counted. so my question is: do I keep that period of one year when I was a refugee claimant empty? wouldnt that leave a gap?

FYI when I was a claimant I applied for work permit and was working.

No, vacations are not considered residency outside Canada, but because the eligibility period is fixed to 5 years it appears that anyone who has not lived in Canada for 5 years or more without an extended period of residency outside Canada will have to fill out that form, including any period before they became a PR. Am I mistaken in that assumption?

You shouldn't have to fill out this form if you are not able to count your days abroad towards residency requirement. I worked in Hong Kong for 7 months, but not as a crown servant and not as a dependent, therefore this form doesn't apply to most. I would just click no and explain on a post it.

Ignore the guide and stick with the checklist. The guide also asks for the following which is not on the checklist:

photocopies of one of your immigration documents:
  • Record of Landing (IMM 1000)
  • Confirmation of Permanent Residence (IMM 5292 or IMM 5688)
  • Permanent Resident Card (PR Card)
  • Verification of Status document

I just called CIC regarding these two questions, according to the agent:
1. Only photocopies of biographical pages of passports are needed;
2. Photocopy PR Card is NEEDED if have one.

DO NOT SEND THE ORIGINALS!

Did y

Did you check, about App form not printable ?

Yes, I also asked about the form and was told it is a known technical issue and they are working on it. Unfortunately there is no ETA, I was suggested to try again in "a few hours".

True. The "eligibility period" has been defined differently from previous rules and I think that's where the problem is. Had they kept it "from the moment you became a PR or" to a maximum of a fixed period, we would not have these issues. Extending the eligibility period makes only sense for police clearances (yet they only use 4 years), but not for physical presence if have none in Canada before you became a PR.
