Hi there,
I have a question for experts. We need to send bio pages of all of our passport covering the past 5 years. After issuing my current passport, the government cut the corner of my old passport (to show it is invalid). is this going to be an issue? I do not have a copy before the corner was cut off.

Thank you
Shouldn’t be issue, a lot of countries do similar things, I know Germany cut it from corner.

Is the date of issue and date of expiry visible?

Biographical only. IRCC will automatically check CBSA entry/exit records and will go through your passport(s) during the interview after the citizenship test.
Yikes interview anxious already. Thanks.

Make sure, there is no gap between your old and new passport, otherwise they are asking to put an explanation!

I've already filled my online physical presence calculator. Will they keep that data when they reset the calculator on 11th ?

Everything filed before Oct 11 is processed according to the old rules.

Hi All,

Can someone please help what type of document do we have to submit for Tax receipts(3 years) to apply for citizenship?

I read this document but I am still not clear http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/CIT0002ETOC.asp#CIT0002E2. Please confirm!

Thanks
Canvin
I thought you don't send anything in. You just give permission to CIC to access your income tax files to verify that you have been income tax compliant for 3 years out of 5.

Hello Folks,

So, I attended a Citizenship Ceremony today with family whom I helped in applying citizenship. Just want to share the experience.

They checked all original documents, everyone got in and seated. The judge came for the ceremony he was super nice, with sense of humor. There were about 90 people in the room, from 31 different countries. Yes, it was little emotional for some people!

I asked the staff member if they have hired some extra people to accommodate influx of applications. She replied no they did not, and then said they have already enough staff to handle it..

That's a laugh. Of course she will say that. They are union. They want job security. As long as there is a backlog, they have a job. The more they hire, the faster the backlog, the sooner backlog clears, the faster they have to let people go.

I would have laugh right at her face with that comment. I would have said, "Really!!! Why were there a huge backlog of PGP prior to PGP freeze and introduction of annual cap?" "Oh I know, there are more applications than there are staff to handle." Introduction of 3/5 rule will be no different.

Q1. My confusion is since I was in Canada for 140 days (as oppose to 183 days) only in this year, am I still eligible to apply after Oct 11?

Q2. Also do I need to be in Canada to apply if I am eligible?

Thanks Fellas.
Can anybody please share his thought on this?
Thanks.

Not sure what you will do with citizenship if you are not in Canada. You can stay whereever you are and serve the country you belong. Yes, the citizenship bingo you can still play use that even you are not in canada.
Thanks Jee786 for sharing your thoughts. I had to leave for personal reasons.

I appreciate if anyone can comment on this:
My spouse and I will become eligible at the same time with this new 3/5 rule. Most of our trips in the past 5 years have been together. Is there any reason why we shouldn't apply as family application? I heard about delays to one applicant affecting the other applicant in family cases, but I have also heard that applying as two separate application may raise suspicion and lead to RQ.
I understand that there is not right/wrong answer here just want to here a third person opinion on this. Thanks.
