Hello, If someone is able to provide an input.
Arrived in Canada via express entry (PR) in 2019. Upon arriving to Canada and obtaining hard copy of my PR card travelled to a foreign country for marriage. Got married, but unfortunately following the same year the marriage was not going anywhere and decided to file a divorce. Hopefully the ppwk will go through this year and should have my divorce finalized in 2022 prior of submitting my Citizenship application.
Question:
1) The marriage was not registered in Canada, or any traces of married status in Canada. I will submit my Citizenship application under divorced status upon receiving my court divorce doc? Any issues? I was advised to disclose single in my Citizenship application since the marriage was not registered in Canada. Rather be honest and divulge that I am divorced.
2) The marriage was not registered in Canada. Any implications of future sponsorship of spouse? Want to confirm since the marriage was not registered in Canada any future marriage will not put a hold wait period of 3 years to sponsor someone?
Any issues of divorce status on my Citizenship application? worse case scenario will provide the divorce doc to IRCC. thanks

1) 100% be honest and tell them you're status as of signing the application. If by then the divorce did not finalize yet, you have to put married since that's what you are legally. You can mention to them that you are in the process of getting divorced and a very brief timeline or explanation plus saying you can provide the divorce proof when it arrives if they request it.

2) I don't see any reason why it would have any implications on sponsoring your next wife. (Based on that you did not sponsor your soon to be ex-wife)
