I'm preparing my file for citizenship and was reading the application for citizenship and in section "I" it asks about minors history of education "schools attended". I have my family and kids but I'm applying 2 months earlier than them as I never been out of the country for 4 years but they travelled 2 months within last 4 years. My question is since I'm applying only for my self should I fill in this section about my kids history in Canadian schools?

Thanks

You CAN apply as a family for you and the kids together now itself as the residency calculation is not applicable to minors. Whatever it is, you have to include the kids details in adult application form also.

So does that mean, I have to order school records for my kids? even if they are not applying with me?

Thanks

Why you think so? Is it given in the checklist or instruction page?

You have no idea.... I had a very bad experience to renew my PR. It took CIC a year and a half just to renew my PR, so I don't want to take any chances with them again..... I want to go by the book. As you mentioned it's not there in checklist or instruction pages but just if someone had any experience would be appreciated.

Thanks

I sent my both kids' school report cards on the dates ( I think 4 years back??) they've asked for as they're both in school. Luckily,I kept them all. My younger child is born here and the older one was with me in my application. I even was thinking of going as far as asking for some sort of certification from their respective schools but time wasn't on my side......wanting to apply before the new rules took effect last year. Guess school report cards were fine.....we became Canadian March this year with no hassle.

Really appreciate you are already Canadian and you still come to this forum to answer questions like this ;D ;D. So you just sent a report card not the whole 4 years school records?

Thanks

For my 15 year old daughter when we all applied, we did not included any school report for me or wife. For my daughters application, for language proof (since she has to write the test), I provided a certificate as per the template provided by CIC. For less than 14 years (no test), even this is not required.
Nothing was asked even during the interview though I carried school records just in case the officer asked.
Hope this clarifies and is based on my experience.
