Hello

I am filling my Citizenship application and I shall be grateful if someone can answer my following questions:-

1. I was outside Canada for more then 500 days at a stretch, so I have filled online calculator, Do I need to also fill CIT 0177 ? If yes then which paragraphs ? because this form is for those who have lived outside Canada as Crown servants or with their spouses working as Crown servants

2. What are biographical pages of passport ??

3. I filled my Physical presence Calculator giving the date of signatures as September 13, 2018 thus physical presence calculator counted my eligibility period from September 13, 2013 to September 13, 2018.
When I sign the citizenship application, it says make sure you are eligible one day before the signing date of application. I am eligible on September 12, 2018 too, but my eligibility is till September 13, 2018 as per calculator , so my question is
Is my application OK ?? or do I need to amend the Physical presence calculator to September 12, 2013 to September 12, 2018 to sign it on September 13, 2018

You will have to fill online calculator regardless. As for CIT 0177, is it applicable to you? Do you want those 500 days to counted towards residency requirements for some reasons? If answer is yes to either or both of above, do fill it...

2. What are biographical pages of passport ??

Any page contains your personal information such as name, DOB, place of birth, address, etc. Visa pages can also contain these information if any visas are stamped, to be safe, please include them too...

Please don't make this about semantics. When did you become eligible on Sep 12, '18? At 12:01 AM or 12:00 PM or 11:59 PM?

If the online calculator says September 13, 2018 as the day eligibility, accept it as such.

I would advise you to wait till you have 15 buffer days of residence

Foolish for anyone to apply two or five days after the day the calculator confirms the applicant is eligible.

Really, really foolish for someone with big and multiple absences during the eligibility period.

What's OK? For sure OK? Buffer. Buffer. Buffer. (Well, there is NO for-sure way to eliminate all risk of RQ-related non-routine processing and lengthy delays or outright challenges, BUT a good buffer in conjunction with making sure to be as accurate and complete as possible tends to buy a good amount of insurance.)

Even waiting 15 days more to apply, adding 15 more days of presence during the eligibility period, is probably cutting-it-close. Some may have little choice (if, for example, some of the days credit now are falling out of the calculation due to being from five years ago). For those with any choice, the overwhelmingly obvious, prudent approach, is to be sure to have a substantial buffer over the minimum, a buffer proportionate to the extent and frequency of absences during the preceding five years. Citizenship officers do NOT have a crystal ball. They need to look at the information and make a judgment whether it is clear the applicant has met the presence requirement. A good buffer makes it easier for them to make a positive judgment without having to pursue additional inquiries or investigations. A good buffer can mean actually taking the oath much sooner. Do yourself a favour by doing them a favour, giving them enough of a margin to be comfortable concluding you met the requirements even if you made a mistake (and you might be surprised how many of those absolutely certain of their travel dates make mistakes).

As for CIT 0177, many report no problem checking "no" they did not live outside Canada during the eligibility period, even though that is NOT accurate. Those with a preference for being strictly accurate (which is the way I lean) check "yes" and then fill in the CIT 0177 with a lot of "N/A" or "Not Applicable."
