I have sent my application 31st Dec 2013.

1. Even though I have everything to include, I have sent ONLY documents which is required by CIC for CITIZENSHIP APPLICATION.

for example ( not included ): rental agreement, payslip, employment letter, tax assesment, utility bills etc.

I already talked with CIC and they specifically told me to follow INSTRUCTION GUIDE.

So I skip this idea and just sent what they want. If I am going to get RQ, I will eventually even if I send everything. So I am not bother about RQ anymore.

2. Another thing I am doing is to be ready for RQ.

In case, I receive RQ in future, I will plan NOW to be ready with all documentation and paperwork and to make sure that I will be able to send everything with in 1-3 days and there I can save 40 days.

I have already asked for CBSA report so within a month I will get that.

-------

3. GuideLine on submitting Application TIPS.

1. Make sure your Photos are EXACTLY according to specification, your name behind it, date when photo taken and place where it taken.

2. On Application form, if in Work/Education history if you are unemployed then mentioned it under Work/Education column and N/A under Employer Column. [MUST]

3. If you have children either minor or adult now, but in last 4 years if they studied in Canada or abroad then you have to provide those school records. [MUST]

4. DO NOT SKIP any dates FROM and TO under Addresses and (Work and Education History ).

5. It is advisable to say YES to for request under 9 (All block from A B C D). If you do not reside in Quebec say NO but authorize CIC question to Yes.

6. When you sign application make sure your sign is similar to your immigration document like PR card or passport something.

7. if possible use ONLINE Residence Calculator rather than filling up the form to avoid any Calculations. I believe, In CIC's point of view print out of Online Residence calculator is more Authentication.

DO NOT FORGET TO SIGN AND PUT DATE ON IT.

MAKE SURE Application Date and the third Date out of first 3 dates from A TO C [ C. Date ] on Online Residence Calculator is SAME. (MUST)

It is advisable to save this calculation ONLINE which you can retrieve later on or print.

8. Last but not the least, once your application package is ready, make another copy of it before sending application to CIC, because after few months you would not remember exactly what did you send.

THIS IS COMPLETELY ON PERSONAL EXPERIENCE TO HELP ANYONE IF THEY HAVE ANY DOUBTS.

Thank you,

Thanks for your post. Did you travel during the last 4 year period and if so did you specify the foreign addresses ?

During last 4 years of application, 1 year I lived in USA, and I did mentioned USA address in my application. This is the case where I was physically living somewhere else.

But once I moved into Canada, I travel outside 6-7 times, like day trip to USA, or 10-15 days trip to outside which all are mentioned but in that case I do not need to specify foreign addresses because this was just a vacation or family visit.

Hey can I ask you

FOR YOUR TRIPS THAT YOU MADE AND LASTED FOR 10 TO 15 DAYS.... did you mention the addresses where you stayed in the addresses section? or these are considered trips ?

Because the description of addresses in the application says...if you reside or studied or employed outside Canada ... mention the address..

Trips are just for vacation or visiting fmaily

Let me Explain what I did.

1. Trip to family visit to my home country for 10 and 15 days, I have not mentioned this addresses in my Application Form. I have mentioned absence on ONLINE RESIDENCE CALCULATOR but even there I have not entered any addresses.

2. Trip of my family members to home country for vacation for 45 days, even that I have not mentioned addresses in my application form. I have mentioned those days as absence on ONLINE RESIDENCE CALCULATOR but even there I have not entered any addresses.

Ok. Why I did that ? the reason is in both case, I was not living somewhere else for WORK or Permanent Basis, but I was lived for Vacation or Temporary. Even for those days my permanent address belong to Canada only so I don't need to mention those addresses.

Now, because I was absence from Canada for those period of time, so I must include those absence in ONLINE-RESIDENCE Calculation which I did.

Now you may got my point.

ANYONE is welcome to come with their POINT of VIEW , in case if I am wrong.

Thank you,

canadp

Quotes Added : from Instruction Guide :

Question 6E
Write all your Canadian addresses for the last four (4) years, including the postal codes.
If you were residing, employed or attending school outside Canada, you must also list all your foreign addresses, including the postal codes.

------
I think this description means that any addresses where you were outside of Canada, and you had no permanent address or link in Canada for that point of time for any reason should come under addresses even if it is for family visit or vacation.

Like in my case even if my family was in home country for 45 days, we have our own home in canada and we were paying our utility bills etc.

Hey thank you very much for your reply,,,,, in the past 4 years i only had a trip to my family in UAE and i already put their address in the abcenses section when I did the online calculator. I am sending my application around Jan 16th...

Funny because of the flood of information here about the RQ, I already prepared most of my documents for RQ in case I got it, I will request my health records since I arrived to Canada ( 5 years ago) by the end of this month so I have them ready

The only thing i am missing is the signed letter from my previous landlord where i lived for almost a year and half there. i tried calling him but his phone seems dead or he changed his number. He didnt own the property he was just running it for some management

I am thinking to request the history of my phone bills from Fido... i didnt keep all the bills from before... they told me it will take like 2 weeks to get them and will cost 140 $ ( i am ok with that as long as things will move with my application )

I didn't pay any utilities bills because in both address where i lived before and where I live now , rent is inclusive ... I rent a room only

1. for any of these addresses, if you can get rental agreement before facing RQ, well n good. but in case if you do not, then yes collect your phone bills, car insurance, employment history, bank statement which proves that you were resided in canada.

2. (LATER STAGE ) let say you face RQ ( I certainly wish not ) , when you submit document, whatever the documents are missed, write a covering letter, and mention which documents you were not able to submit and what was the reason. tell the truth, do not hide or provide false information. wherever you lived , provide the correct information. and yes keep collecting the documents, you don't know when you need it.

I totally agree with you and this is what I will do

In fact I have a signed letter from the pervious landlord stating I lived there from ... to ..... and he wrote down his cell number.. i tried to call him again but could not get in touch i think he changed his number.

I may try to check the management that runs the building. I am going to toronto land registry office to see if I can get their info. If i could not, then I will provide that letter with all my bills.. ( when i lived at that address I was a refugee and immigration canada sent me a few letters there for my hearing and the acceptance letter after my interview ) So I am am hoping I wont have any problem.

My passport has like 112 stamps all of them from the time before I came to Canada.. although it expired but I sent it to be translated all of it from the beginning to the end.

I live in Toronto btw

I spoke to cic yesterday they told me that i need to mention foreign address as i stayed there for 4 months , and then 2 months .

May be its because the duration in my case is long. But anyways i guess v should start prep for RQ to be on safe side.

Everything after you became PR is significance. Before that nothing.

And everything before 4 years may significance only in case where in last 4 years you have any inconsistency in living here in Canada, traveled lot outside or something in which CIC may ask you any past information during RQ.

Totally understand

I arrived in 2008 ( late of it ) as refugee claimant

I got my hearing in July 2010 and become a pr in Oct 2011

So before Oct 2011 I could not leave the country because I was not PR. or had PR card to return. I traveled only once for 45 days to see my family ( after more than 3 years not seeing them ) in 2012

So basically from 2008 ( Nov) till Jan 2014 ( this month) I only traveled once for 45 days. I am including a copy of my ticked with my application just in case.

Your physical presence in Canada before you became PR will be considered as Half day. You know that. correct ?

so between 2008 you arrived and Oct 2011, whatever days you count it will be half day.

yep

I used online calculator and I will meet 1095 actually after tomorrow on Jan 3rd.. and I only have one trip which was for 46 days so not many dates to be confused.

I decided to wait to have over 1100 days and then send my application.

One thing I included in my application is that when I arrived here I arrived as a refugee claimant .. A deportation order was issued to be in effect in case my refugee claim was refused... ( that is the standard procedure ), anyway my claim got accepted and i became a PR in Oct 2011.. so I am including these documents ... the deportation order , the refugee document , the acceptance letter for my refugee claim and my confirmation of landed immigrant .
