Hello all,

im in the process of applying citizenship application for both me and my wife. I have couple of questions below:

1: should me and wife apply separately by creating two different accounts and applications? Or can we apply together?

2. Physical presence calculator page: i was on spousal work permit from 2018 to 2019 December, applied for bowp on 2019 September which was valid till deember 2020 and applied for extension and it was approved, and became PR on feb 2nd 2023. ( how should i fill in this case for the question on temporary status in the physical presence form)?

3. If im filling the application form today, it is talking the period from july 2nd 2019..but if i submit tommorow, will the period change from july 3rd? Because today it shows my presence as 1096 days..what if i submit the application tommorow? Will it show 1097 or 1096? As the period moved from july 2 to july 3 2019

Please share your opinions on this and will be grateful. Thanks

Are your dates correct? If you only became a PR in Feb 2023 then you do not qualify for citizenship now.

Don't apply with just 1095 or 1096 days. Give yourself a few weeks of buffer.

Thanks, will keep this in mind. Could you kindly respond to my questions above too?

You will each have to create your own account but one of you can invite the other to link both applications as a group. Once both applications are signed, they can then be submitted together.

You can add the spousal work permit and the BOWP (plus extensions) separately, or you can just enter worker status from 2018 to February 1, 2022 to keep it simple (maybe attach an explanation letter the set out the details of each permit), or you can only enter the most recent work permit if that already covers a 2-year period (giving you the 365 days you are entitled to). It doesn't really matter either way. All the temporary resident days get tallied up in GCMS anyways and it only allows you the maximum of 365 days towards your eligibility.

The 5-year eligibility window moves forward automatically on the electronic application. It's always the 5 years ending the day before you sign the application.

Thank you for the detailed reply. I just have one last question—> can the months overlap when filling address history and job history? Lets say i started job sep 2023 and ended before job in the same month..how should i add this?

Yes, address and job history can and will in many cases overlap, such as when you move or change jobs in the middle of the month. Sometimes people even have more than one residence or activity going on at the same time for extended periods. If there is an issue with the dates, the application will tell you.
