Hi
My 19 year old son applied for citizenship in September, but heard nothing by now. I guess the reason may be because he has no tax return record. He went to University this year he had not worked before, so no income for tax return. In the application, he checked "NO" for "Required to file" and "NO" for "Taxes filed" for taxation year of 2012-2015.
CIC website says you must file tax for 4 years, but my son didn't do so since he was just a high school student. He must wait for 4 more years doing tax return?

Really appreciate your kind advice.
Thanks

When in September did your son apply? It can take a while to receive the AOR.

As for the taxes if he wasn't required to file then it's correct what he marked on the application. His school records should be good for IRCC to confirm his presence in Canada.

Thank you Rigly68! You are right, he finally got AOR. Took a month, 2 weeks for many people nowadays, though.
I just don't know the difference in time spent for this step.

Good news! I wish him all the best on his journey to become a citizen!
