I think you need to send a registered mail to CIC local offices and ask them to confirm if they indeed misplace or lost your file.

Upon receipt of their confirmation, you can take next step or think of re-applying.

Last week I realized CIC does ALLOW candidates to submit multiple applications, which will be process simultaneously and gives you an option to withdraw either all or except one. However they will refund only the certificate fee $ 100 against each application.

Doing all this will cause more and more frustration to the applicants.

Here is the link for submitting multiple applications:

You can send them a case specific email as well to ask about the application. Likely you wont get an answer, but at least you have officially sent them a request to see where the application is

I sent a fax to CIC as I have the same situation. I will recommend sent a fax to CIC and wait for 2 weeks for that. It might work.

Hi Passion thanks for the reply, I have checked your previous post congrats for the late AOR!
Seems you were in the same condition as what I am right now, so the call agents claimed they cant find your application and ask you to
re-submit, however you did get your AOR eventually?
So you faxed CIC about the inquiry to look for your application? Do you mind sharing more about the content of your fax? Also btw, what CIC fax number you were using?
Thank you so much and I appreciate your help.

I just mentioned my and my spouse details in fax and give a brief history including Canada post tracking number. I am sorry I lost fax number but you can take the fax number from call agents or might google it.

My story may helps. :) I submitted my application in Aug 2014. I called help desk in Sep and asked about my case as I will be outside of Canada for a month. I was told it is too early to call and they are just opening the file from June. So I suspect my file will be opened in Nov/Dec. I did not get any notification until Jan 2015 and nothing shows up in CIC web site for my case status. I called help desk and agent told me that they have opened all files from Aug in Nov 2014. He is pretty sure that my file is lost and suggested me to re-submit. I re-prepared my application in 2 days and online paid extra application fee. On the day I plan to mail my application out, I got email from CIC confirming that they have received my application. What I can say? So, base on my experience, my suggestion is to wait for another month and keep calling help desk every week. Good luck!

It is very true they may end up finding my application, however the problem is the new law will begin pretty soon.
I don't have the luxury to wait for another month. One of the call agents told it is alright to submit 2nd application, even after
that the 1st one is being found. So I will probably wait two more weeks before sending out another application.

I am actually laughing myself since seems I always got bad luck with CIC, my PR application got rejected by mistake and after arguing with the officers they re-opened my case. Now I am applying citizenship and this happened, lol

If you don't mind me asking, what happened with your PR application? Why it got rejected?

I graduate with a two year master program here, however the officer thought that should be a one year program, just because in the school website it says "this program takes at least one year to finish". After removing this line in the website CIC reopened my application.

Hi Guy,

I received my AOR today after 3 months, what a surprise! I was about to mail my application again.
I guess this means at least my application package is complete and wont be returned ?
Thank you all for asking me to wait longer before applying again.

Your application won't be returned as it has been accepted. They may ask for some documentation during later stages of the processing of the application.
