Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hi all,

I'm a homemaker, living in Mississauga. I've never worked in Canada, nor in Dubai, from where we moved in 2011.

I'm applying for citizenship along with my 2 school going kids, in the next few days. My husband is not applying now. I've put together the application package with only the documents requested.

My question is whether I need to include additional documents to prove my stay in Canada. Not sure what, though.

I've never volunteered anywhere, so no proof there.

I do have all my tickets for all my travels showing that my absences have been correctly recorded. There's no discrepancy in CBSA records either. Never been to the U.S. despite having a US visa stamped on my passport. All my travels have been by flight only.

Should I include my husband's employment details as he is the bread winner? I'm dependent on him financially - my source of income.

Should I mention my background in the covering letter? My husband travels extensively and so I've never been inclined to take up a job, with 2 kids to take care of.

Any insight or suggestion would be most welcome.

Thanks.

Don't worry. My friends wife applied with three children without him got citizenship easily. During interview officer asked him that why your husband didn't applied she reply that he was not eligible to apply as Woking in foreign country & when officer asked him regarding financial support she told dependent to her husband. So wish you good luck

Thanks, ar.

Additional documents?
I would suggest you to apply with documents those have been asked by CIC. If you feel that some additional documents which can support your application, you are free to attach. Its totally your personal choice.

A lot of people ask this, though it's nice to see the homemaker herself asking rather than the husband asking "My wife is a homemaker, she's going to hurt my application, won't she??!!" as though her rights will and should be sacrificed for his without a second thought. (This is a pet peeve of mine.)

Working outside the home is not a citizenship requirement. Making a lot of money doesn't mean that someone will or should get citizenship sooner than someone who does not.

The CIC does not require or expect extra documentation from homemakers. Being a homemaker has never been an Residence Questionnaire (request for losts of extra docs) trigger.

Good luck!

I would suggest to add a cover letter detailing your circumstances as you described in the post.

Thanks, Eileen and thanks, Moti.

I did mention very briefly in the covering letter that my husband travels often and so I chose to be a stay-at-home mom. As such, never worked nor pursued further studies during the last 4 years.

Hopefully, that would be a satisfactory explanation.
