Pre-Assessed..
I am helping a friend in their Citizenship process and would really need some answer about their situation to help them out.

My friend's family consist of him, his wife and their 21 year old son.

My friend already send out his application 2 months ago. Now his wife and son will send out application together. The reason they are sending late is they were out of the country 2 months and my friend didn't want to wait, having concern about the new rule coming into effect any time.

1) Does my friend or his wife need to mention their son as a minor in their application (my friend had sent out his application without mentioning his son as minor) - although the son is 21 yrs. 2 mos. he was less then 18 yrs. of age as of 4 yrs. ago - so did he made a mistake and now his wife should include the son as a minor in her application?

2) The son is a student in a college. So he needs to send all transcripts received so far with his application, right?

3) If the son doesn't need to be mentioned in either of the father/mother's application, now can the mother and son's application be send in one package?

The son does not seem to be minor anymore.

Minor is the one who is under 18 years of age when signing the application.

I suppose he would be filling the application within few days now and as he is already 21 years old, he should be filling and signing the adult application form.

Mother and son's application can be sent in one package.

In doubt, please contact cic call centre at 1-888-242-2100

For education documents see the following:

In addition, provide photocopies of official education records for all children in Canada or abroad who were under the age of 18 in the last four (4) years immediately before the date of your application, even if you are not applying for Canadian citizenship on their behalf. You must also provide documents for any children who are already Canadian citizens, if applicable.

Note: Student identification cards and letters from institutions, teachers, principals are not accepted as official education records.
