Good news.
Just spoke with the a top level manager and they will give a reference letter covering the entire work period. It was the immediate manager and the HR people that were being a pain ! :) :D

good news. apply as soon as possible

The May 2014 form has slightly changed and they now require work/education supporting docs.

Did you guys notice that there is actually an inconsistency between the updated application form CIT-0002E (5-2014) and the corresponding document checklist and the instruction guide?

While the form now asks for documentation on education AND work, the checklist as well as the instruction guide ("gather documents") still only ask for documentation on education BUT NOT work.

It is kind of sad that this is not consistent as it just creates confusion for future applicants.

Oh good! Thanks!

I followed the checklist and instruction guide but am of course able to provide work proof too (pay slips) in case they are going to ask. Can't change anything anyway now as the application is already being processed...

Congratulations on getting the documents and I agree with all others about the cover letter!

I wanted to add though that CIC is not going to call your previous employers overseas.

Good luck with your application!

Regarding pay slips. I have a bank statement which shows my salary deposit for the last term, but it doesn't tell what company it is. Can this work in place of pay slip?

It's too secondary an evidence... I doubt it can stand by itself.

If you plan to apply this year, you must include whatever period is applicable from 2010. And from that period in 2010 onward you must provide explanation as to what you were doing: school, work, etc. Provide the address WITH a valid zip code (if N/A, write it in a cover letter). CIC asks the applicants to be complete in what they declare: no gaps in residential address and work/education.
